Actually when it snows and snow devolops on the dish I lose it in most cases. But for some reason not a problem with this last storm. I usually hose the snow off in seconds its back on,lol. Someone should invent a way to keep covered but yet have a signal. Hey JJ market that tarp, lol. Or invent a heating cover for the dish, lol.

I went back to cable TV about 3 years ago because I was tired of losing reception during cloudy or rainy days. Someone told me the newer ones dont go out as often as they used to, is there any truth to this?

I never lost signal during the storm. I honestly have lost signal with cable more times then I ever did with the dish.

Hache,

I have 3 satellite dishes on my roof from Direct TV. one for local channels, one for all other channels, one for directway for computer. In the past 2 years NO PROBLEMS, other than snow or ice on the dish. If I lose during a thunder storm was up in matter of minutes. Really OK but is definetly better than Time Warner cable. Plus I have a SPORT package year round , very convenient. MLB Extra Innings, NFL, ESPN Full Court, next month NCAA tourney.

Directv is not a good option for us in Florida as during the summer months the sky looks like armageddon is coming almost daily.

You could just put heating tape on the back.

You can spray Pam or a silicon spray on your dish around Thanksgiving and in February and your dish will be fine.

My dish rarely goes out - maybe once a year during a downpour. Comes right back.

Me thinks that the dish works better now than it did 5-7 years ago. I live in Fort Lauderdale and I never lost my signal during the hurricanes this fall. I almost never lose my signal during rain either. Am I the only one who has noticed this becoming less of a problem? Did they increase their signal?

It does not seem to go out as much anymore
