MAKING MONEY RISK-FREE with ABC TEASERS

OK, this is why the -7 -110 TIES WIN teasers were so lucrative to me personally.

Read carefully:

On any given week were there were two NFL games with -8 spreads(or approximate), teased both down to -1.

EXAMPLE:

PACKERS............+320
EAGLES -8..........-340

GIANTS................+320
STEELERS -8........ -340

Tease EAGLES and STEELERS to -1 each, ties win.

5500 to win 5000

Now wager on BOTH underdogs on the moneyline for half of the teaser wager, in this case................

GB 2500 to win 8000 at +320 ML
NYG 2500 to win 8000 at +320 ML

HAVING DONE THIS, HERE ARE YOUR ONLY POSSIBLE SCENARIOS WITH THE POSSIBLE EXCEPTION OF AN OVERTIME TIE(VERY UNLIKELY).

BOTH FAVS WIN.............BREAKEVEN
EITHER DOG WINS..........BREAKEVEN
BOTH DOGS WIN.......... +10,500

MANY TIMES BETTER THAN +320 COULD BE FOUND, SO ACTUALLY MANY TIMES IF EITHER BOTH DOGS WON OR JUST ONE, MADE A SMALL PROFIT.

DURING THE LAST 5 YEARS, BOTH DOGS WOULD WIN IN THIS SCENARIO A TAD OVER 2 TIMES PER YEAR ON AVERAGE IN WAGERS PLACED.

SO IN EFFECT, THIS WAS A RISK-FREE WAY OF BASICALLY GUARANTEING APPROXIMENTLY $25,000 A YEAR if WAGERING WITH THE ABOVE FIGURES PROVIDED.

I am sure others were able to manipulate these teasers to even a greater advantage than what I have presented, but this worked for me.

They do not offer this anymore unfortunately.

They now cost -125 instead of -110

How often was there a week with two 8.0 point NFL favorites with sufficiently high ML's? I'm suprised if it happened that often.

But yes, this points out the inherent value in those teasers that cross the 7 and 3... You were getting a -260 ML on a team that was going to be -360 or higher ML everywhere else. That's pretty huge.

Sadly, I don't think we can expect to see any book offer 7-pt -110 ties win teasers any more.

"Manipulate" sounds so devious Fish, I prefer "fool around with" or "play with".

No need to add the ML component, sure it reduces risk but also cuts into the returns long term.

Only reason I could see one doing that is if they are uncomfortable risking $5500.

You would make more just playing the teasers straight up since that is the value part of the position.

At times you would tease at -7.5(samething as -8 basically), as long as one were able to find +320 elsewhere on the ML.

Great thread by the way, Fish you bring so much to the board here its just amazing.

Quesiton: why would you add such a horrible negative expectation wager (the underdog money line parlay) to a large positive expectation wager? Just play the teasers (use money management) and take the positive ROI all day long.

That is like playing an overlay horse to win (smart), and then ruining most of your ROI with a saver wager on a horse that is not an overlay.

never wager on non overlays. The teaser above is the value play, the money line underdog parlay is a bankroll killer overall.

First off, thanks for the kind words.

Secondly, you are 99.99-100% correct in your thinking.

There were many, for a lack of a better word, SITUATIONAL wagering techniques with this system.

What I have provided here is not PRECISELY the way i played the teasers week in and week out, but more to give the reader a sense of how powerful these 2-team teasers were.

That is not to say that I did play them anywhere near to perfection for the most positive results.............like many probably did.

TTT, i completely understand and agree with what you are implying, no question about it.

I was doing nearly the same thing with ABC teasers, but with a series of parlays on the other side. I had a pretty nice "Parlay/Teaser arbitrage" system in play every weekend. Not going to go into the details here...

As you know, a -8 pt FAV/FAV ties-win teaser is EXACTLY the same as a M/L parlay. So it was in fact fairly easy to see how much of an edge ABC was giving away to the sharp players with their 7 pt ties win deal by just looking at the M/L's available.
