Nobody saw the game, unless you live in Omaha or drove to the game like I did. I have never seen a team play this bad, and I don't think I ever will. I went to the game with my dad, and we both agreed that we will spend the rest of our lives trying to figure out what we just witnessed. Their inside threat, Patrick O'Brien, got two cheap fouls in the first 3 minutes and sat down for the rest of the half. I knew we were in trouble, but had no idea. If anyone lives in Omaha and taped the game, I'd pay to have it shipped to me. They might have thrown the ball inside once all night in a half-court set. Maybe once, but not twice. And I'm not joking about that. They fouled a three-point shooter 3 times in one game. 3 freaking times! That's unforgiveable. They could not break Creighton's very weak press the whole night. They forced an over and back, and then touched the ball to let Creighton grab it and throw two passes and hit a three. They missed 6 foot jumpers all night. They would finally get the ball across half-court and have a mini-fast break 3 on 1, and would either shoot a 12 footer, charge, or pull it out and run their comedy act half-court set. The few offensive rebounds they got, they missed layups repeatedly. All this, and they led by 3 at half. I felt pretty good, thinking that they couldn't play any worse in the second half, but it was even worse. Didn't defend the three, and gave up a huge 11-0 run or something to start the second half. It was over at that point. Helpless basketball team. And the thing is, they have been one of the most impressive home teams in the country, undefeated and blowing out decent teams like DePaul, Pepperdine, and SWMS. I guess Jim Les isn't as good of a coach as I thought. I'm stunned. And I got buried tonight on every other game I bet. I'm over it though, just confused about what the hell I just witnessed. I think this team passed about 3 bowls and got blazed before this game. And that doesn't even explain it. Wow. Sorry for the long post.
