This guy I never met screwed me over yesterday.
I am supposed ot be training this week (1st non-chargeable week since May, excluding vacation and holidays, so I was working from home).
He calls Wednesday at 5pm and says I need to be in NYC office at 8:30 for a 9:00 am meeting with a new client. I explain I live in Phila, and that it would proably make more sense ot begin on Monday (approx 3 hour travel time each way makes 6 travel hours non-chargeable vs 14-15 chargeable for the 2 days). He thought I could commute NYC, until I explained I get travel, expenses, and hotel, etc. He says he'll call me right back.
30 minutes later my Partner calls bitching about why I can't be there tomorrow. I explain I never said I wouldnt be, and that the SM was supposed to call me back when/if he got clearance on the expenses.
Needless to say I am in NYC. Oh yeah, the girl we HAD to meet with today never showed. The project will be 6-8 weeks (my estimate). Guy never figured my expenses into the budget (clint is not paying, so firm will eat them, lowers the ERP (fake profit). He says today, "how much could your expenses be anyway". I tell him, all in, about $2,000/week (car service, train, car serice, hotel, meals, dry cleaning, internet, and then reverse travel home) and he nearlyu shits. I book the hotel at 4 pm, 269+tax tonight and $339+tax/night for the next 6 weeks. He tries to tell me that's too much, I call travel services and they confirm no cheaper downtown hotels. He gulps hard and says he needs to relook at the budget.
Hey, he should have known better and charged the client for the expenses.
