What's the biggest money line dog you've seen outright? Most of you are older and have seen more games.

OK I will give Dodobird his props on this one:

Florida International +2200? against Hawaii was a pretty sizable ML.

many shoppes dont post money lines for football over -1000. And that happens all the time.

Buster douglas was 3000 to win 100. But ML's outside of future bets only go so high.

Super Bowl III Jets beat the Colts 16-7 as a 19 point (more or less) underdog.

agree wil, the pats were also 14.5 pt underdogs and won a superbowl, that ML should be easily dug up.

baseball goes no higher than -550.

How about the team that beat the US in hockey a month or so ago at the World Championships getting 5.5 goals? I'm sure they were +3000 or so.

Next up, I want to look at how to compare a spread to a moneyline. Although each offshore book is different, here is a chart that is published on the Internet showing a general guideline for converting spreads to moneylines in the NFL. Note that college is slightly different and is omitted here in the interest of space.

<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD>Favorite
Pointspread </TD><TD>Corresponding
Moneyline</TD></TR><TR><TD>-2</TD><TD>-130/+110</TD></TR><TR><TD>-2.5</TD><TD>-140/+120</TD></TR><TR><TD>-3 </TD><TD>-155/+135</TD></TR><TR><TD>-3.5</TD><TD>-175/+155</TD></TR><TR><TD>-4</TD><TD>-200/+170</TD></TR><TR><TD>-4.5</TD><TD>-220/+180</TD></TR><TR><TD>-5/-5.5</TD><TD>-240/+190</TD></TR><TR><TD>-6</TD><TD>-270/+210</TD></TR><TR><TD>-6.5</TD><TD>-300/+220</TD></TR><TR><TD>-7</TD><TD>-330/+250</TD></TR><TR><TD>-7.5/-8/-8.5</TD><TD>-360/+280</TD></TR><TR><TD>-9/-9.5</TD><TD>-400/+300</TD></TR><TR><TD>-10</TD><TD>-450/+325</TD></TR><TR><TD>-11 </TD><TD>-550/+375</TD></TR><TR><TD>-12</TD><TD>-600/+400</TD></TR><TR><TD>-13</TD><TD>-650/+450</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

One of the most common questions I am asked in reader emails is why we don’t offer moneylines for spreads outside the 2-14 range. The reason is that outside these ranges it becomes difficult to balance action. If a spread moves from –1.5 to –1, you don’t have much room to move on the moneyline. Players will simply ignore betting the +1 and take the dog at +105 or even, lowering the vig for the house. Above 14, the moneylines are just too high. Bettors seldom lay the big price and then the House sometimes takes big hits when the big upsets come in (like last year’s Super Bowl).

Biggest MLB one I saw last year was Devil Rays beating the Red Sox @ +420. Scott Kazmir pitched for TB.

We may see some new ML records this season when The Big Unit Randy Johnson pitches at the Stadium for the Yankees against some Devil Ray call-up rookie righthander next September. What number will they hang if the DRays are 25 games back but the Yanks need the game to put the Red Sox away into wild card country.

1998 Temple knocked of V-Tech as 35.5 pt. dogs. I also remember ISU beating Nebraska 10-15 years ago as 30+ pt. dogs. There are probably others though.

BLACKSBURG -- Maybe they'll cancel homecoming next year at Virginia Tech.

Temple, a 35 1/2 point underdog, shocked the undefeated and 14th-ranked Hokies with a 28-24 victory Saturday before a stunned Lane Stadium crowd of 47,610. One of Las Vegas' leading oddsmakers ranked it among the top five upsets in college football history from a point spread standpoint.

``I've never been so embarrassed in my life - shell-shocked,'' Tech defensive end Corey Moore said. ``We're the laughingstock of college football right now, and deservedly ...
