Peter Angelos is the biggest joke of an owner. Besides looking like a troll and being a greedy lawyer (who finally lost his bid to keep a team out of DC) , how can this guy approve paying $$$ to Sammy Sosa the only guy in MLB whose avg., homers and rbis have gone down each of the last 4 years.

Plus after he walked out on the Cubs in their finale last year and cried about he gets blamed for their failures, who would want this guy?

This ranks right up there with Angelos's other triumphs like firing Davey Johnson, letting Mussina go to th Yankees and running announcer Jon Miller out of town

The O's are only paying a portion of his salary about $7 million. Also, even the 35 HRS he hit last year were better than Gibbons. They gave up a backup in Hairston and some prospects. Why not take a chance? My money says Sosa and Tejada click and Sosa hits 40-45 HR's next year.

Maybe Tejada can keep Sammy's ego in check. But I think Sosa's days of 40+ homers are behind him. I don't understand trading young for OLD especailly when old is most likely past their prime. To me, it seems more like a publicity grab by a team that is freaking about their monopoly being broken by the DC Nats

Why is it stupid? They gave up nothing, the Cubs are paying most of his salary and Sammy can DH in the AL. So it's stupid to trade a backup 2B for a guy that hit 35 HRS last year?

we all know that picthing is the key to winning. So what ,the cubs got off easy and the orioles gave up nothing I would want to win a championship. Therefore i would stay with the team with the better pitching!@!

Don't think it is a good or bad move for the O's. I think it will help their team next year, but might hurt in the long run.

Baltimore has ZERO chance of winning that division anyway.........why not bring in Sammy, he'll put azzes in the seats and the Cubbies are paying a good chunk of his paycheck. They'll have quite a line up but you can only win so many games 12-9

What pitcher were they going to get for Jerry Hairston. They tried to get Pavano but thought his .500 record wasn't worth it. They tried to trade for Hudson but wouldn't give up the young guys the A's wanted. The O's like their young guys in Bedard, Cabrera and Ainsworth.

That is exactly right. With the Yanks and Sox in the division, the Orioles have no chance no matter what. So their main objective should be getting fans in the seats so that they still make a profit. It is a business afterall. While Sosa is past his prime, he still has some left in the tank.

Very bittersweet for me as a Cubs fan to see Sammy go like this. He really did need to go, but he has provided so many great memories. Its a shame it all had to go down like this. I just hope other Cubs fans can realize what Sosa did for Cubs baseball and remember him for that rather than what transpired this past season or two.
