I am going with the Carrier Dome. a while back I would have said New Mexico. that use to be a hard place to play in, they beat some good UNLV teams.

When you say "strongest" I take that to mean team differential between hom and road.

Wake, Okie State and Mich St come to mind -- each have 3 losses, but none at home.

IOWA STATE'S HILTON COLISEUM

coliseum.jpg

There's no place quite like it in college basketball. When more than 14,000 loyal, screaming fans invade beautiful James H. Hilton Coliseum, it's the biggest party in the Midwest!

The place isn't just loud, it's deafening. And over the last decade, Hilton Magic is responsible for college basketball's biggest home court advantage.

According to the Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer, Iowa State owns the best home court advantage in the nation, ranking ahead of such powerhouses such as Indiana, Arizona, North Carolina and Duke.

Every team's website makes such a claim. Losing to Colorado there is a downer.

Beating Oklahoma is not. There really isn't a team with the strongest home court advantage. There are several all over the country with very good home courts. Many teams unbeaten at home.

The Carrier Dome's homecourt advantage comes from the fact that few teams play in domes in college hoop except for the tournament. Very hard to shoot in that place in less you done it before because of its expansiveness. The crowd, surprisingly, is very quiet and has actually gotten tamer as the years have gone on. Last few minutes of the game, though, if SU has a chance to win, it gets very, very loud.

The majority of posters here would never guess IOWA STATE.

As OKLAHOMA found out yesterday, it was no picnic in the park.

Iowa State is 3 to 1 over its in-state rival Iowa for atmosphere and electricity on the hardwood............sorry to say.

PS- the study was done by the Raleigh (N.C.) News & Observer over the last decade. Without a doubt one of the very toughest places to play for any opponent.

I believe under current coach, Iowa St is 29-4 at home. Not sure on wins but only 4 losses. Pretty respectable since they are usually a little above .500 and play in the big 12.

The thread title should be "who has the second best homecourt advatage after duke". I have been fortunate enough to attend games at many great venues and there is no doubt in my mind that Duke is way beyond any other college home court. I have been to home games at: tenn, miami, fsu, florida, kansas, kentucky, Ill, Misoouri, NC, Wake, tech, Vandy among others. I have not been to the carrier dome yet. I have been told that ST. Johns home games played at I think they call it "alumni hall?" back in the early 90's/ late 80's were great also.

Have been to DUKE and IOWA STATE..............it is very very close.

DUKE does have an aura about it because it is D-U-K-E.

But for sheer crowd noise, IOWA STATE is better..........and as noted, IOWA STATE plays like a completely different team at home than on the road.

I guess it can be said that IOWA STATE is a terrible road team too, no doubt about it.
