Be happy that you at least made it back this year though. You have a good team but I still don't look at the Patriots as a dynasty.
Yes three trips in four years is pretty good...but both victories were by only 3 points!

Dallas, San Francisco, Pittsburgh had dynastys. New England truly isn't that dominant.

The Patriots may win Sunday... but more likely they will either lose or win another close game without covering.

the eagles have to beat the patriots on sunday before i can agree with you. i cant go against the experienced champions from the dominating AFC conference. like my feelings about payton manning the numbers are nice but they mean nothing untill manning wins a game that matters in january.same with the eagles. all the talk is about TO and gods medical clearance for HIM to play. reid should have removed freddie mitchells toungue in mid sentence when he called out that NE secondary. that team has to be very focused as ive not heard much of anything coming from them. what a great game this will be tho. and im a chargers fan so i naturally back the AFC.~RG

Pats win Easy and big.

you can’t downplay how bad the NFC was this year. Only one NFC team on the Eagles’ regular season schedule, Green Bay, had a winning record (10-6). And we saw what happened to the Pack in the first round.

Every team in Philly’s division ended the year 6-10; and the Eagles got to play these losers twice. They also played two more NFC losers, Detroit (6-10) and Chicago (5-11), from the old black-and-blue division.

When Philly went up against the AFC, they stumbled to a 2-2 SU record, and 0-4 ATS. One of those losses was a pathetic 27-3 drubbing by Pittsburgh, a team New England beat handily two weeks ago.

Finally, Philly caught Atlanta in the title game. And the Falcons are burdened with the worst quarterback in pro football, Michael Vick. All the Eagles had to do was stop Vick’s running game to stop the Falcons and their defense was up to the task. With a passing game reminiscent of high school junior varsity, the Falcons couldn’t mount any semblance of an offensive attack.

The Patriots, conversely, had to beat some tough teams to once again reach the Super Bowl. They beat the Colts and Steelers back to back in the playoffs and, during the regular season, the Pats was perfect against the NFC: 4-0 SU and ATS.

Against common opponents, the Patriots were 5-1 SU and ATS, while the Eagles were 2-3 SU and 0-5 ATS (the Patriots had an extra game vs. the Steelers).

But it’s probably the intangibles that make New England the better team. The Patriots have the ability to turn up the pressure on defense in a big game. And that defense can be stifling.

In their playoff game against the Colts, the Patriots completely shut down Peyton Manning’s high-octane attack in a dominant 20-3 win. In a critical game with the Jets at the end of the season, the Pats smothered New York, 23-7. In fact, in three of its last four games, the Patriots have held their opponents to single-digit scores.

Quarterback Tom Brady is looking more and more like the next Joe Montana. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have Rice and Taylor on the outside with Dwight Clark over the middle. Yet, he is deadly accurate and is making fewer mistakes as he gains experience. Gaining Corey Dillon and his 1,600 rushing yards this season has been a huge plus for New England. Remember, last year the Pats won the Super Bowl with the league’s 27th ranked rushing game.

Finally, the Patriots have the right coach for their players. There are no pro bowlers on this squad, and they like to be introduced at the start of the game as a group. When you have a team that embodies what pro athletics used to be and should be about, it’s hard to root against them. Bet against them at your own peril.

Define dynasty in 2005 terms... Yes dallas, SF and pitt all had dynastys as you have rightly called them but that was before free agency and the salary cap.. What New England has done with those on their roster, I would have to place them in a whole new catorgory. Not a dynasty by any means, but an outright remarkable team and coach in all due respect.....

GL pats my moneys on you...

Hello wilheim..

You are correct of course with regard to the NFC being a watered down conference, a check of the results from this season shows that in head-to-head meetings versus the NFC the AFC held a commanding 44-20 straight up and 41-21-2 ATS edge in 64 total AFC/NFC inter-conference games.thus the reason for the rather large spread in this contest.

If past Super Bowls are used as a barometer of sorts to measure one conference to another than a good arguement could be made that the NFC has been a really watered down conference over the past seven years to the point that the AFC is 5-2 straight up and 4-2-1 ATS in the past seven Super Bowls.

However all indications point to the fact that the oddsmaker appears to be catching up with regard to the AFC going 0-2 ATS in the last two SB’s and 2-2-1 ATS in the last five SB’s, when looking at how the favorite has done we see that t<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O /><O:p style="MARGIN: 0px">he favorite has not done well at all in the SB as of late as evidenced by going 0-3 ATS the past three years, 1-3-1 ATS in the past five SB’s and 3-5-2 ATS in the past 10 SB’s.</O:p>
<O:p style="MARGIN: 0px"></O:p>
<O:p style="MARGIN: 0px"></O:p>
<O:p style="MARGIN: 0px">In terms of a head-to-head comparison between common opponents that the Eagles and patriots faced it not fair </O:p><O:p style="MARGIN: 0px">to include the patriots rematch versus Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship game in head-to-head comparisons because Philadelphia did not have the same opportunity of a rematch, thus we see that each team faced Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Cleveland, St Louis and Cincinnati during the regular season.</O:p>
<O:p style="MARGIN: 0px"><O:p> </O:p>
Philadelphia posted a record of 2-3 straight up and 0-5 ATS while the patriots posted a mark of 4-1 straight up and 3-2 ATS versus these five same season opponents, both teams lost to Pittsburgh and Philly’s other two losses against same season opponents came against St Louis and Cincy.<O:p> </O:p>

However, Philly’s two losses against St Louis and Cincy should be discounted because they were the Eagles final two games of the regular season and Philly rested starters having had nothing to play for, meanwhile, the patriots played St Louis back on November 7th and played Cincy back on December 12th, meaning that these two games were valuable at the time to the patriots who were still fighting for playoff positioning.<O:p> </O:p>

A closer look-see also reveals that while both the Eagles and patriots played and won at Cleveland, Philly faced the Brownies back on October 24th when the “Brownie injury bug was not out in full force at Cleveland and the Brownies were 3-3 straight up and ATS at that point in the season and still had fight left, meanwhile, the patriots faced Cleveland on December 5th when Cleveland had fired HC Butch Davis earlier in the week and the Brownies season was all but over as Cleveland was 3-8 straight up and 4-7 ATS on the year and was fresh off a 58-48 loss to instate rival Cincinnati.

And lastly, I personally can't believe that media types are actually comparing Brady to Montana at this stage of Brady's career, Joe Montana led the 49er's to FOUR Super Bowl wins with an average winning score of 35-16 and Montana was named the Super Bowl MVP three times with WR Jerry Rice getting the award in the niners other SB win.

Tom Brady is good and there is no doubt about that, but PLEASE..Brady is NOT in Joe Montana's class, Pittsburgh QB Terry Bradshaw also led his Steelers to FOUR Super Bowl wins with an average winning score of 26-18 and Bradshaw was named the Super Bowl MVP two times with WR Lynn Swann and RB Franco Harris getting the award in the Steelers other SB wins.

John Elway led his Bronco's to FIVE Super Bowls, Elway lost his first three appearances but won his last two trips to the big game before retiring and was named the MVP in one Super Bowl while RB Terrell Davis picked up the trophy in the other win.

The point is...DON'T put Tom Brady in such an elite group until he has shown the long term ability to get his team to the promised land, winning two SB's is definately a good start but consider that EACH of the two wins came on last second FG's.

Until Brady is able to win FOUR Super Bowls like Joe Montana or Terry Bradshaw or is able to show perserverance like John Elway in getting to FIVE Super Bowls...he's not in their class period.

take care and good luck!

Cash....You know what dynasty means?

It means you can ask the question "Who will the Patriots face in the Super Bowl next year?" and they start answering Carolina!Dallas!Tampa looks good,Redskins maybe

Without doubting the premise of the question.

Or its not really a question of who will win the game on sunday. Its will the eagles cover the points, is the issue.

OUCH! Easy, SB, Roxy didn't ask for that! You're probably just having fun, but I guess I'm an old-fashioned dinosaur who still thinks each female should be treated like a lady until she proves that she is not one. I assume you wouldn't want to be perceived as having less than optimum class. :suomi:

:lolBIG: Iggy it's all in jest. If she is offended I will apologize (but you do realize picking the Patriots in this game is much more offensive) ;)

You folks are being jerk wadded by Hooligan Eagle Fans....it's nice that they want to believe and root for their team..but to keep insisting that The Eagles will win because of some type of fan interest is going to blow up in their faces and they won't know what hit them.

It's VERY VERY VERY AKIN to YANKEE FANS who can't see beyond their NOSES BECAUSE IT KEEPS growing like PINNOCHIO'S. Simply hoping or wishing aint gonna make The Eagles win...

Let's all have another hit..:smoker2:

Billy Billy Billy...you a funny guy! Maybe you should change your name to Johnny Carson...has a nice ring to it!

Now about the hooligan Eagles fans...I don't even like the Eagles, but I like their chances here. Look at the unbalanced teams the Patriots have played in their two Superbowl victories.

1. The Rams (all offense, no defense).

2. The Panthers (all defense, average offense).

Now they get to play a complete team. Don't be surprised to see New England with their hands full Sunday...you can bet they won't win this one by 3 points!

Yes, but the last time doesn't always mean the next time...just ask Pittsburgh how things turned out the second time after they won the first game against New England.
