how many on here would say they have a drinking problem? i am serious, a real drinking problem?

i for one, know i binge drink at times, and i am trying dearly to get it under control.

General states he drinks about 12 beers a day, i would consider that a problem.

for me, i dont drink everyday, thank god.

anyway, just looking for feedback.

I did up to 1 year and 6 months ago. I drank 7-days a week. when you turn the light on it never turns off. It got so bad for me I start drinking in the daytime, something I didnt do in the past. It got so bad for me nobody wanted to be around me. I start going to AA meetings, and the first week I went I said to myself, I never was that kind of drunk, but if you keep going you will definetely here your story from somebody. I am the happiest I ever been in my entire life. I never thought I could live without drinking. I know that not true anymore. dont take me wrong I am not trying to preach, good luck.

Also probably had a problem at one point. Found other things to do with my time. Still like to kick it, just very rarely.

BTW, this is why I believe in the gene. Most of the guys I hung with during my "dark days" have all been through rehab or aa. Some are in jail and some no longer here. One day I just decided to back off and did. Many of them were not able to.

I am a binge drinker and alcoholic. My exploits are well documented on this site.
I have not had a drink since Christmas Eve.
Let me know if I can be of any assistance.:suomi:

My Dad had 7 brothers. 7 out of 8 of them including my Dad died from alcohol. So family history does play a role. He died at 62 when his liver basically exploded. When I went to his home the day after he died you could still smell the alcohol poisoning in the air. Never will forget that smell- never will drink a drop.

There is not much I cannot tell you about alcoholism. I have been around it since birth.

Good Luck to all of you...and keep it up. There are several around hear that struggle with this. Personally I tend to drink more during The Holidays and somewhat on weekends; I find that going to the gym regularly makes me want to pass on the Crown and have the cranberry.

BB, this thread needs to be here every now and then, good job...GL, G

I have stayed steadfast to my 2-3 beer maximum limit per day since the new year began........many days not drinking at all.

Hope I can hang on.

The Boardroom here at the Rx and all the posters in there have been a big help..........especially Dante.

anyone who is a regular hard alchohol drinker replace that with beer asap it gets way more managable at that point.

anyone who drinks a ton of coffee replace that with decaf you wont miss caf like you thought and that makes it a lot more managable also.

were talking about a small % of people probably wont even see this thread but if one guy does remember baby steps baby steps its damn near impossible to drop it all together cold turkey

beer vs hard alcohol

- beer, you wont pass out nearly as fast
- not nearly the same ammount of black out
- beer wont wreck your brain nearly as much
- your liver is happier, you wont be like my boy mickey mantle
- youre more presantable in social circumstances
- its easier to quit beer/ cut back than hard stuff
- beer costs less
- you might get to appear in one of those gay 'i cant taste my beer' commercials

im sure theres more but thats what i could think of
