First time in their new gym and the bright lights of national television put a gitty-up in Grinnell's three-point attack. Grinnell was 13 of 52 from three-point range (25 percent) and 28 of 96 overall from the field. Both teams scored 47 points in the second half. It's too bad it wasn't a typical Grinnell-Beloit game, but at least it was close.
And did you see the end of that? Beloit's last shot goes through the hoop with 1.7 seconds left (according to slow-mo replay) but they put up 3.3 seconds left. Beloit misses the free throw, which caroms off to the side, a Grinnell kid slides after the ball, never secures it, motions for a timeout which the ref was signalling before the kid even made the motion and Grinnell gets the ball out with 2.9 seconds left!! 1) the kid never grabbed the ball, 2) only .4 of a second goes off the clock. Christ, talk about home cooking. Then Grinnell inbounds to a kid that is running back to his FT line, he grabs it, dribbles upcourt to about 30 feet away and gets off a shot before the buzzer. There was about 30 seconds of action in the last 3.3 seconds.
