I do not think I will stop unless they make a signed LAW that goes after the individual bettor and make it illegal (which I highly doubt will ever happen), as I enjoy it alot and I do not let it effect my life Win or lose in a bad way

I also enjoy the atmosphere of a sportsbook in vegas very much.....:digit:

I would hope to eventually stop for good. Betting is work for me. It's the most enjoyable work I've ever had but it's still work.

The plan is to make enough money to buy an island, and retire.

I'll probably stay in my friend Bert's NFL pool though, come to think of it. I've known him since we were 10 and he's been doing the pool for a million years. 5 bucks a week - LOL. But other than that, I've got too many other hobbies and interests to be worrying about gambling when I don't have to.

Just noticed I didn't really answer the question. I said I would hope to make enough money but the question was do I think I will.

Yes to that. Unless the trends of the last few years change, definitely.

I know I could that's all that matters....I have never 'needed' to wager, thank goodness!

Not saying I haven't ever done anything foolish like throwing a few dimes down the drain out of frustration...but I do not need it...the times I do get the urge most are the special occasions, March madness, The Start of NFL , College Bowls (which I suck at ) Baseball playoffs (I usually do well there) Thanksgiving weekend... on all these occasions I do get the gambling 'itch'...

I think I would still need to compete and play the game to win, no matter how much I had. I'm not talking from an action standpoint, but just the need to be productive and successful.

I will stop only if there is no more college football or if I am in a vegetative state or DEAD!. My wife wants to cremate me when I die. I want to be in a crypt with an address so I can get The Gold Sheet. Also want a telephone and internet connection. You can never be unprepared because ANYTHING is possible. LT

My kindred soul. You are one funny man. Actually, some may be surprised by this, but after having my entire adult life being involved in this business, I can feel an end coming in the not to distant future. Not sure when, but know that it is just around the corner. Perhaps if and when I reach 60, that will be enough.

My kindred brother, say it ain't so! I will be 60 when we have the Bash and I have suddenly become distressed by the fact that my college football weekends are quickly diminishing. Ted, we must rail against the darkness and NEVER give up! Gosh, I wish I could hibernate until August 1st and save 6 months a year so I would have more football months. Dante, being around you and Uncle Fish, make be be stupid and say stupid things. Me and Cedar Creaker will headline the distinguished class of 60 year olds at The Bash. Ted, if you like, we can make you a junior member. LOL! LT

OMT, maybe I'm out of line for asking this, and you certainly don't have to answer. But are you religious? I know that you've said that you've thought about death and come to a peace about it. I'm searching right now for that peace about what I believe, and I look at you as an "old man" who is wise and obviously has a lot of character and integrity. Just curious. Cause I don't have that peace.

I am not a terribly religious person but was raised in a household with two faiths and feel that it has made me a more tolerant and understanding person. When I mentioned coming to peace with my own death it is because I feel that I have been blessed and been given a good life and want for nothing and only look to share what has been granted to me. Currently, I am having four houses built for my wife's family and am very happy about the future this will provide for not only them, but their offsprings and the entire future of my wife's family heritage. I am not concerned for myself and do not fear death and am ready should the time come. The only sad part for me will be that I have left my wife alone to proceed without me as this will hurt her a great deal. We are very, very close and I am a very lucky man to have been given such a gift as her presence in my life.

As to obtaining peace. I have lived that the way you treat others while on this earth is the truest of religions. I can tell by your writings that you have such a gift that not all are blessed with. Peace comes from having the inner knowledge that you are truly a good and kind person and care for others and not just yourself. Give yourself time. I believe inner peace comes to just about everyone sooner or later, whether it be early in life or near death. Be kind to others and you will surely be on the right path toward peace.

Just a figure of speech. We are all just one day closer to the funeral parlor. My day is likely the last day I will gamble.

OMT, thanks for sharing, I appreciate it. You are truly a kind person, and I hope to meet you someday. My conscience seems at peace when I think of things like that, and I want so much for my inner leanings to be correct. The problem is, as Kornholio (my brother) alluded to, I was raised in a household that doesn't believe those things. That you can't be good enough, and that Christ is the only answer to avoid total damnation. I guess I want to believe whatever the actual truth is, and not struggle with opposite viewpoints as I live the rest of my life. I'm curious as to what gift you are referring to that you notice in my writings, as I'm not quite sure what you mean.

The gift is in your words. It is the way someone speaks and writes that communicates who they truly are. Never underestimate people as many can see a person through their words. Use your power of communication to do good for others and you will begin to see what I mean. Regarding formal religion, truly believe that it is not necessary to make one a good person. Live your life kindly and giving and it will be more important to the living then all the formal religion you could possibly learn.
