Each time I go to Vegas, the sportsbooks get worse and worse. I thought I would share some of my stories from Super Bowl weekend. Let me first say that I am a dime to 3 dime player per game. I love halftime and first half lines yet the only places offering first half and halftime lines over the weekend were the Stardust and the Las Vegas Hilton. I was told at the Mirage, Ceasars, and Ballys that they were too busy during Super Bowl weekend to deal with first half/halftime wagering.
I wanted to place a nice bet on a NBA total. I loved the total in Dallas/Toronto game on Sunday and attempted to make a $1,000 bet at the Stardust and my bet was refused. The most they would let me play was $550. I went over to Harrah's to bet it and the most I could get down was $330 without the line moving. The sports book manager said I could bet another $330 after the line was moved a 1/2 point. At the Hilton, the most I could get down was $550 on a total. So I went to big bad Ceasar's Palace and their limit was $550. The Mirage would only take a $550 play. It only gets worse! I tried to play a college game for 2 dimes on Saturday Duke vs. GA Tech at Bellagio and was told that the limit was $1100 unless I was a guest at the Hotel. The Vegas Hilton allows $2200 on college and $3300 on NBA games. At the Hilton they will take a dime on a first half and a dime on a halftime. After you bet a dime they move the line a point and then you can bet another dime. Why do these places put up numbers if the do not want action? As for the Super Bowl, I faced no restrictions when betting 4 dimes on the total but it had to receive manager's approval at the Mirage. Advice to anyone going to Vegas, spread your bets out at different casinos. Remember if you cash more than $10,000 in a 24 hour period you will be subject to a big hassle and must present identification. The Sportsbooks exist for Parlay card bettors. They do not want real action anymore. Thanks God for offshore. The only thing scaring me about offshore is the fact that so many people I know that have been using Western Union are being denied to send/receive money. Has this been a common occurance? It seems that they are being placed on a terrorist like watch list.
