KAPOLEI, Hawaii Four years after heading to the Hula Bowl as quarterback at Purdue, Drew Brees is back in Hawaii for his first appearance in the Pro Bowl.

Less than a year after San Diego Chargers all but gave up on him by selecting Philip Rivers on draft day, Brees is still basking in the glow of his superb season and the Chargers' run to the A-F-C West title.

And he's looking for a long-term contract from the Chargers.

His performance at the end of his four-year contract earned him a spot alongside Peyton Manning and Tom Brady on the A-F-C roster for the N-F-L's all-star game Sunday.

It also made him one of the N-F-L's most attractive free agents, but Brees says he wants to stay in San Diego.

Patriot...I agree, except the chargers paid mad bank as a bonus and they would have to eat that. They will likely end up trading brees at some point.

the chargers have about 20 million bucks under the salary cap to play with.the feeling is they franchise tag him for 9 mil and see how things go next year. rivers is under contract for 7 years so he sits and waits its not a choice. i thought all along that marty son ,who was the qb coach, made drew something he wasnt. the bolts treated drew worse that a pile a crap. from aj smith to marty to the media they crucified the guy. he became very determined to prove everyone wrong. drafting rivers really upset him and elevating rivers to #2 on the depth chart after week 2 really motivated him.now, who is the real drew brees? excluding his college career hes had 1 good year in the nfl.can he do it again? can you really draft a guy like rivers then admit you made a mistake? they didnt admit any mistake after the ryan leaf debacle.it surely wont happen now. drew wants to be rewarded with loyalty and a long term deal. but this is the nfl and loyalty doesnt even exist among players let alone management.drew is in a horrible position.if he stays 1 more year and comes out of week 1 next year with 100 yards passing and 3 ints and they get whacked then rivers starts the rest of the year.but if he has an ok day and they win then the brees deathwatch will be on and who wants to be put in that position. somebody ANYBODY please make an offer to the bolts for brees. give them a high 2nd and pry him away from san diego.he deserves so much better than this. his greatest reward would be getting sent someplace where theyd love him. dallas, cleveland, green bay, seattle, and anyone else aj smith is in his office daily soiling his depends wondering how he has kept his job.call him.tell him youd like him to give to the tsunami relief victims by sending you drew brees.hes an idiot and will fall for it. in fact throw a #55 or #37 jersey on drew and walk him into AJs office and say hes junior seau or rodney harrison then he will hand drew a plane ticket for sure. aj smith was john butlers butt buddy before butler died. and before butler came to ruin the chargers he was in buffalo ruining the bills. aj learned from the best. drew brees is a class guy and anyone would be lucky to have him.email the gm of your team and ask he look into a brees trade. the chargers dont deserve him. for 20 years weve compared all our qbs with dan fouts. only stan humphries is remembered in that highest regard. now we have another possible fouts here and hes unappreciated. amazing.

a lot of teams would take Brees.....

Drew Brees is no fake. This guy will be solid. Chargers can hang on to two QB's or make that big move.

He'd look good on the Jets ( Drew Brees) with Pennington having shoulder surgery. Pennington may need a year to recover. And Quincy Carter is in Drug Re-Hab. So many teams would take him..Dallas, Green Bay, Miami, Ravens,Chicago,San Fran,Raiders....on and on...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice problem for the Chargers to have.. they have options galore.

They obviously have to do something. I would try to trade Rivers for a first round draft pick, and if it isnt a "lottery" pick, also get a defensive lineman or linebacker that can start thrown in the deal

Oh, that would make Brees real happy. Another quarterback controversy

Will they make the right decision? Aside from this past season's cinderella outcome with a few of Smith's recent dealings (Gates was the huge sleeper), this organization with the Spanoses and late Butler to Smith has not made good football decisions, and have turned off the community. They decided not to draft Vick (he really didnt want to come to the Bolts, especially if they could not afford 10 million), but got LT and Brees instead, which right now stands even-steven with what has transpired.

Now I'm hearing Shottenheimer wants to trade Brees if he is indeed franchise tagged and looking to make 8/9 million in '05, preferably for a #1 next year along with a #2 this year. Who's more proven: Brees (great season '05, good half seasons '01 et '02), or Rivers (the next Trent Dilfer?)

schottenheimer is a fossilized ass. its true he does want to move drew brees and you know why? because HE was the one who nearly left his wife he loved rivers so much after last years senior bowl. he will look stupider than he already does if this qb controversy is allowed to go on.drew brees owns san diego. moving a guy with his popularity will kill any good will the chargers forged this year. with a new stadium vote coming in the next 2 years a trade wont help in that cause. philip rivers better be damn good. he wont be facing duke and carolina out there. he looked damn good at nc state and norm chow loved the guy. hes still a legend at state and we can only hope hes not a bust.time will tell. but im not looking forward to next year thats for sure.

I'm an opportunist and think it about time to fade brees, I have not lost money on the saints, i am no chasing . I think i saw a philly run defense that shit down Mark Engram and saw the emergence of a new pro baller star in Alvin Kamara . Brees arm strength and scambleling was just not there ... Football betting is like the stock market and the dynamics are changing... Breese was the start of the revolution but he will not see it to the end of the revolution. The revolution will be televised. it started with the greatest show on turf .. I hope drew brees can can be as good as man, as on of the most over looked heros in football history Kurt Warner one of the greatest to play the game .
