Can someone please explain to me in step by step detail how to properly use the "Quote" feature. I'm sure many of you have noticed that many posters have it down properly, but others do not, myself included, which is why I don't use it. I can't get it right. Help!

Easier way is to hit the quick reply and then check the box next to "quote message in reply"

I need more detail. Just tried and still can't do it. Try to take me step by step through it. Copy, paste, quote, left click, right click, etc. Every step you take. I'm a dummy when it comes to computers. I can cap games and surf the web, but my computer skills are limited. Remember, my generation didn't grow up with these tools.

man, im glad someone started this thread topic. this is a pet peeve of robfunks.

all i can say about quotes are when 1 guy says something kind of lengthy and the very next post reqoutes the entire thing and then the guy just says something like "yup youre cool IMO". when youre the very next guy do you really have to repeat everything he just said?! what is so hard about putting the persons name so we know youre adressing him followed by a comma and then saying what you wanted to say?!

even if it is a few posts back, really you just have to say: "rob, what you just said makes no sense at all i think youre a nutjob." instead of quoting me entirely to say the same thing.

i like quoting portions of stuff so you know what im trying to address, but when you quote paragraphs and entire posts just to say a sentance or two that i already saw earlier in the thread i just wonder if you do this in person. do you repeat everything i said before you talk back to me?!

you gotta look at it like conversation

Noreaga- It works on whichever post you hit the "quick reply" button on.

Using quick reply on this message. See how it goes.

That worked.

I give up!

It must be a browser issue with your software Ted. I just hit "quote" in the message box that I want to reply to.

Sometimes I cut some stuff out of another authors words because I'm not addressing that part of what was posted.

Rob- I agree, I dont think it is needed to quote long ones all the time when you can just put the posters name in you reply.

Following advice from Kiss. Testing again.

Worked! But how do you quote only a portion of what someone says?

Testing again using Quote from Kiss but removing a portion.

Worked again! Think I've got it now. Thanks for everyone's help.

Rob: I promise not to abuse the feature.

I agree Rob.

This is an attempt to quote a portion of your post. Let's see what happens.

Cool. It worked.

Now the question is, how do you put multiple quotes in the same post?? I see some people post with 4 or 5 quotes in the same post.
