Guys after three very succesful seasons in a row betting college football I have only bet one game in almost six weeks. I have lost all interest in gambling. Now this might not sound like a big deal to you guys but you have to understand that I have been betting sports for nearly 30 years. I have no idea why I even stopped. I was going to just take a few weeks off but I just kept staying away. I am starting to spend time with my wife and kids and getting to know them all once again. The strange part being I DON'T MISS IT. Now I'm not saying this will last for ever, I'm just saying that I have never shut it down for this long in my 30 years of gambling. I am more relaxed. I am reading and watching movies with the wife and kids. I am in a better mood at work and at home and everyone thinks I am a completey different person, husband and father. I am getting ready to retire in about five years and I don't want to waste the rest of my life like I have spent the last 30 years. I have enough money put away to last me the rest of my life so the $$ is not an issue. I want to travel and see the world something I have always put off because of gambling. I am going to take it one day at a time and see what happens. I just wanted to stop in and say hello to all the RX members and tell everyone here it's been a blast. See you all soon and maybe I'll be back next football season or maybe even March madness, who knows. Later boys and good luck to you all.

GL to you - you sound like a balanced person but I'm sure you'll miss the buzz at some stage and come back.

The only time that I gave up and didn't think about betting too much was when I travelled the world for 9 months - that should be enough time away from the game to give up for good if you so wish.

if you got enough on the table with life that you dont need to gamble that really shouldnt come as a suprise.

guys like me, this is their main hobby. I dont have the wife and kids and multiple obligations.

its me against the books. its a war. and i like to come here to talk to others going the same.

the 'i cant quit no matter what's going on', i save that for the art schlisters and pete rose's of the world. thats clearly an illness. theyre that my wife is in labor, whats the # on cuse/uconn type.

youve got enough time for your hobby(s) or you dont

Good decision Harrington.. family is more important. Gambling should never interfere with family.. it sounds like you have let it interfere, but atleast you are making changes.

Good for you Harrington!!

I myself have been at this for about 17 years. More just for the NFL....and NBA after the football season. I also found true that quality of life with the family is alot better when I'm not betting. So I make a point not to do this full time.

YOU'LL BE BACK, it only takes one small bet then you'll back in. I'm sure on several occasions you stopped for a day or two over the last 30 years.

Good luck harry.....keep it real....but IMO no reason , if you can control it, do this strictly for hobby/entertainment value as I do....but best of luck!
