All those that dream of living in Vegas just don't know the number of a-holes we have here. My buddy just told me a story that blew me away. He works for a department of Clark County that interacts with the public on a regular basis. He had some guy come in. He started arguing with him for no apparent reason. Then he saw my buddy's computer screen, on Verizon's website so he could send a text message to his daughter telling him he would be late to pick her up, asking her to see if she could get a ride home. This guy started ranting about how county employees are paid for by taxpayers and their money shouldn't be wasted.

Ridiculous stuff, until the next day when some investigator came in and questioned him. Turns out the guy who complained is a golfing buddy of a County Commissioner and put in a complaint. He admitted he did use the Verizon site to send a text message, only because the stiffs running the county pretty much blocked him from using the phone even for very short personal calls. Next thing he knows, he is on probation and since he has been there 3 months likely will get canned. Just for trying to keep his daughter safe.

This is typical stuff for Vegas people. They complain endlessly about taxes and government waste, yet we pay very little in taxes compared to just about everyone else. Then people wonder why crime is horrible, traffic is bad because roads don't get built, and why our schools plain and simple suck. The RJ and a vast majority of Las Vegans act like government workers are doing nothing but wasting time and money, like they aren't be human. Working for a private company I can say we have plenty of staff that are not exactly productive 100% of the time, no one ever cans them.

Just fair warning, these people around Vegas are dime a dozen.

This city is the armpit of America and has been for quite sometime. Las Vegas is a dump, plain and simple. There is more sub human lowlife here than any place in this entire country. Yet millions of people visit this overrated tourist trap every year and thousands of people move to this cesspool in the desert every month. And I have no idea why.

People here are dirty pigs. They smoke too much, drink and drive, litter constantly and can't follow even the simplest rules of the road. Courtesy here is rare and the overwhelming majority of Las Vegans have no class. This city is filthy and overcrowded. Traffic is horrendous. The cost of living has soared. Even an old starter house in a s**thole neighborhood will cost you $250,000. And that's for a dump. Gas prices, sales tax, car insurance and DMV fees are outrageous.

The police force is a joke. The county commission, city council, state legislature and the city, county and state judges are controlled by the casino industry. The politicians listen to the fat cats running the hotels, not the voters. Anyone out there even remotely thinking about moving here has to be completely out of their mind.

Look out Vegas here I Come.

Sounds like a great place for me to live. I remeber the last time I was there a guy was scraping off a sticker at a bus stop that said beware of pick pockets. I guess he didnt want anyone to know what he was going to be doing. I thought got to love this place.

Then there's the smart guys who put up signs "beware of pickpockets", so they know where your money is as you subconciously check it it still there.

hey KISS, give Albany some credit. I've been to beaches in North America and in Europe and I've seen some beautiful women. The hottest girl I ever saw was in the airport at Albany....so I have fond memories.

so vegas stinks, but every state has their crappy towns, there are some areas in idaho that are terrifying-i'm sure you guys have heard of ruby ridge. Northern idaho has some creepy towns that a lot of people avoid.

The point is few people are clamoring to move to Ruby Ridge, but many do move here and many more dream about doing it. It is just a disclaimer about the character of too many people around here. People when deciding to move somewhere tend to accentuate way too much about the positive and not nearly enough about the negative. You won't read my stuff in the guide books or all the literature that talks about the low taxes and warm weather here. In fact everyone raves endlessly about the low taxes in the books and all, but you know what they say about cheap people. That is essentially what you get hordes of in Nevada. People that came here because they wanted to be cheap and then just take it to another level. I know call me crazy, but I wouldn't mind paying more taxes if a lot of chit around here got better.

my point is every place has crappiness, even the most innocent seeming areas. A lot of people are moving into southern idaho because it's so calm and beautiful or whatever, but the gang violence is so common, that most of it doesn't get reported. I know a fireman in the area, and he said it's so bad, the paramedics don't report to a scene until the cops are there and there's at least one shooting or stabbing per night. I actually lived in an appartment complex where there were several bullet holes in the carport. We have weird scary stuff happening all the time that would make some people sick...

speaking from a parents ( 2 small children)point of view (who lived there) you could not pay me enough money to live in that shithole again. It is filled with nothing but scum. Yeah, the brochures are nice and ceasers 24/7 makes it seem exciting but it is just propaganda. Grew up in ny, never had any problems.A week after moving to vegas (summerlin) my truck gets stolen from the rampart (and thats the nice part of town).
Swing by smiths and see the poor mothers pissing their kids milk money down the rows of slots.Traffic worse then anyplace i have ever seen (and i have been to 42 different states), the scum mexican gangs, crime, corruption, pollution, high cost of living (the idea of nice cost of living died 10 years ago) and 115 in the shade in the summer.Where do i sign up:chest: :chest: :WTF: :hump: :hump: .......

Vegas has many not-intelligent people. I think it's because an uneducated person in Vegas can make as much or more money than someone with a college degree in another town. Bartenders, valets, dealers, all make good money. Many of them make $60k to $70k a year. Then you have strippers and cocktail waitresses making a good 6-figures.

This town is a haven for people with low intelligence and low-talent or low-skill sets. Everyday I drive and see idiots on the road. I see accidents all the time and I just say to myself "stupid people in this town."

I have friends who are professional gamblers who probably tip the IQ scales on the high side, and there are people like Steve Wynn and George Maloof with lots of intelligence and talent, but there is an entire society of dumb people making good wages. It's a very attractive town to work in, if you have nothing else to offer the world.

I moved here from San Diego. I'd say the average IQ in Vegas versus San Diego is at least 5 to 10 points lower. And yes, we rank near the top in smoking, drug use, suicide, teenage pregnancy, and many other notable categories.
