It's a possible interest of mine. I love to write, and love sports. I don't think I could ever be comfortable on the radio or tv, but who knows? Anyone have any idea how to get into this field?

SportsGuy on espn.com was having a contest for an Internship. Not sure if its still open or not. would be a great start if you have that style of humor/sports/tv/music knowledge.

As a teenager, my want was to be a sportswriter. It enters my mind every couple weeks.

I've had a few forays with radio production and media sales- today some of the work I do is involved with it, but more internet/web; if you want to be an announcer/talk host, my suggestion is to get into it early in adulthood at the low wages it mandates at first: go to school, and in the meantime like journey said, do internships and be prepared to move to smaller markets to get fulltime seasoning.

as journeyman pointed out - do an internship. this means you will NOT get paid, also. this also means you will have to be enrolled in college - for insurance reasons for the station you intern at. get ready to make SQUAT if you do geta job - and by that i mean MAYBE make $25k - MAYBE. and that would be a high salary (honest). if you want to be in front of the camera - get ready to go to places like Roswell, NM and places like that - cities that out of like 300+ markets are around 300. if you get a job doing sports at a city like Roswell - this means that besides being on air - you also have to write your own show and odds are any footage you show on your show is shot by YOU! someone might be able to edit it for you (maybe) but odds are YOU are shooting it.

NONE of this applies if you are a woman and you are HOT! in that case - after an intership jobs will be thrown your way faster than you can turn them down. i don't know anything about Hache Man's g/f - but based on what he wrote - she is HOT (i know HM thinks she is - but others have to, also - or else she isn't "wanted" as he makes her sound).

Start your own internet blog

Be a blog caster. Many have started and good ones have large followers. Then sell advertising. Only a very few get rich in this field working for the big monster companies. Most start out on the grave yard shift making little to no money. Writers even make less and move from job to job alot. Maybe you could free lance for magazines write a few articals on different topics and send them to the magazines. I know ESPN magazine sucks they are probally looking for people all the time.
