I'm from Baton Rouge, about 60 miles away from New Orleans.

Check out these places for dining:

Mr. Bee's Bistro (Royal Street) ... awesome food, get the grilled shrimp wrapped in bacon, over stone ground grits with a red gravy reduction sauce ... wow.

Jac-Imo's (Oak Street, off Carrolton) ... best creole food period.

Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse (Magazine Street, just off Bourbon) ... delicious steaks, great atmosphere ... excellent sauces ...

RedFish Grill (Bourbon Street, near Canal) ... excellent seafood ... excellent fish dishes ...
