LAST 3 YEARS

2004--268
2003--240(excluding OT)
2002--255

Thats an average total points of 254 the last 3 years.

So taking that AVERAGE and averaging it with last years total of 268..........we end up with a total of 261.........precisely where the line is currently.

I think you have to look at the doubt OT thing as an anomoly...there were just 240 points in regulation. Last 14 years:
268
240
255
221
263
249
252
247
251
245
267
266
230
243

So in the last 14 years 268 last year was the very highest outside of the double OT game. And the trend is not necessarily for higher scoring games with 240 (non-OT), 255, 221, 263, 249 previous years. In the last 14 only 3 games plus the OT game have been 260+. Of course only twice has it been less than 240. So not counting OT, 8 of 14 have been between 240 and 255.

If anything, 261 is on the high end. Who the heck knows where it will go. People love to bet these games over. But I think if the total goes much higher the under is worth serious consideration. In my opinion.

Looking strictly at the numbers that I have provided, would agree with you D2.

Unfortunately(or fortunately), John Q. Public has no clue about these numbers.

Why would you want to average the last 3 years and then average that with last year's, which is already included in that average?

Prior to the 2002 game, the last 3 year's had been 249 ('99), 263 ('00), 221 ('01). Would it have made sense to then average the 3 years to get 244....and then average that with 221...and then set the line at 232.5?

I'd rather look back further. Is the AS Game really played that much differently now than it was 5 or 10 years ago?

Did just 3 years thinking that basically the same group of players would be involved.

Who knows?

I am convinced the more I think about this that the UNDER is the prudent play at this number or higher.

A couple things working here keeping this number this high that are obvious.

1. JOHN Q. PUBLIC likes to bet OVER

2. Mr. Public has last years 268 in mind, as well as the recent ProBowl high scoring affair fresh in their minds.

Anybody have the TOTAL increment moves on this total last year?

I would be greatly interested in that.

Thanks,

Yeah, public will probably bet it higher and that seems to be Pinny's thnking. Given that last year was the highest in awhile, each point in the 260's seems rather important. At 261, I'd sit on the sidelines. Maybe give slight consideration at 263, more consideration at 264 and serious consideration at 265. Of course I'd love to middle it 261 to 265, weighting the under, but I'm not sure I'm that confident of the number moving up. It might not.

Just going purely off memory, I thought I recalled seeing AS Game totals in the mid to high 250's in past years.

I do recall middling the WNBA All Star Game in 2002 though. :103631605 lol

D2- Pinny just went to 261 over -115 and CRIS is at 261.5

I am with you, not really sure where were headed here.

As mentioned, would like to see last years line increment moves and at what time, for a little better feel.

I would think any WISEGUY would like the UNDER in this game at this number, do you not agree D2?

But then again, cant imagine many squares betting this total this early.

I am confused...........guess the wiseguys are trying to take a lead thinking the squares are going to bet it higher and then they will get their middle oppurtunity.

That was my original thinking, now not sure, as this is an extremely high total allready.

I would think so, but then again I've only just now given it a cursory look. And particularly after both the movement and result of the Pro Bowl, I would think waiting and watching the movement, at least for now, would be the prudent thing to do. Either that or banging the best over now and hoping that it moves much higher.

Keep in mind the public is also seeing phoenix Suns games almost getting that high, there is no way the public will bet the under.

this total will only go up.. but I think there is a key middle coming

I think it would be smart to get on -6 now and get +7.5 or +8 come game time
