Typical February stuff. Only the Illini are putting it on the line every night out. Well coached teams know winning every game at this point of the season yields little benefit for the time of year when it really counts. Teams like Duke are primed only for a handful of key games and the rest they just go through the motions.

Bill I think you are dead on with this post...my neighbor watched this game with me(6'10" BTW) and he says if Mike S. doesn't sweat he doesn't care about the game; he is just trying to get through these last two weeks healthy....I am still learning..and my wallet is, too. Even Sagarin had this as a 19 point game....I am now worried about The Dance.

I don't agree. These games mean a lot. College basketball isn't only about a tournament in March, as much as everyone wants it to be. Sure, it's the only thing we remember years later, but that doesn't make this time of the year meaningless. The conference titles are what they are playing for right now, and that is the focus. And every game is going to count when they go to seed the teams for the Big Dance. These kids have very little time to be young and enjoy playing college basketball. Of course they should play hard and compete to win every night. Your post sounds like you're saying that the Illini aren't well coached, because teams with real coaches don't care about this time of year. Maybe I took it the wrong way, because I'm a obviously a die-hard Illini fan. But I think you're way off. Kryziewski will be pissed about this embarrassing loss.
Duke is so overrated. Coach K is squeezing everything out of the talent the have. I think if you get Coach K to be honest with you he'll readily tell you that he just doesn't have the depth of talent that he usually has. This has to be the least talented Duke team that I've seen for as long as I can remember. Part of it is he has trouble getting the good players to stay, like Luol Deng. Deng leaving was a devastating loss. The team is pretty similar to last year sans their leader Duhon and their best athlete Deng. Big losses. None of the freshman have really stepped up. Melcchioni tries, but he's really nothing special. Dockery is a disappointment.
