What exactly do you people cheer for?

A racer?
A racing team?
The car advertising your hard liquor of preference?
Crashes?
Close finishes?

Maybe I'm just a nutso, but after the Bills lose (to say 3rd stringers and get knocked out of the playoffs), I get a little down. Do you guys get down if your favorite racer blows a gasket or gets DQ'd?

Hache,
Any reason you root for those drivers? Are they from your area? Is it their persona? Do they have pretty cars?

A few of my more redneck family roots like crazy for Elliot Sadler and I have no idea why. They yell at the TV telling him to hurry up.

I really don't understand this.

I could see some people pulling for Dale Jr our of respect for his father dying tragically, but that's about it.

I just like Gordon Lander because for some odd reason many don't now~a~days. He's actually down to Earth and quick to thank and credit all others involved in his success, yet also the first to take the blame on a bad day. Meanwhile, Earnhardt Jr is just the opposite. I can't figure why so many like this guy. Just watch a few races this year and catch him on the radio with his crew. He is classless.......(although others will disagree)

I think the networks are getting tired of the free advertising. Notice how during the interviews they start looking to cut out the moment a driver or crew member starts running off the names of the sponsors? Such an orchestrated commercial opportunity. As if you didn't know who Jeff Gordon would like to thank, just look at his car or the team apparel.

As a racing bettor, I think it gives me quite some advantage when I pay attention to how drivers (teams) are doing and can see 1st hand the reasons why they may have failed or succeeded. Other than betting, i have been around racing my whole life. It is a very popular thing here. Used to be glorified more before CART/IRL stuff ruined the Indy 500. I like to watch fast cars and I can appreciate the skill required. I am not a scalper. I gamble match-ups and To Win. I think watching and keeping up increases my chances of winning.

Betting or not though, I love the competition of NASCAR racing just as I do the Late Models at the local dirt tracks.
