Self is probably a better recruiter, but Weber is a better coach. Of course the long-term college coaching reality is that it's more important to be a good recruiter than coach.

I think it's safe to say that everyone in Illini nation wants a piece of Bill Self. I'm thankful for the 3 years he gave us, because he helped our program tremendously. But he's long gone and forgotten here, much like an ex-girlfriend. We've moved on to bigger and better things. At least that is the hope. I'm optimistic though, because Weber could recruit at Southern. I hope Kansas is in our bracket, and we blow them out to go to the Final Four.

A week ago I'd have figured Kansas was a lock for the #1 so that couldn't happen. But now it could. The committee likes to set up matchups like that. I could see Kansas as the #2 in the Chicago region. Helluva game it would be. I think Illinois would run them out of the building.

Kansas did a brilliant job scheduling this year by playing decent teams early on their home floor. It helped them tremendously. Now, the wheels are falling off. They'll make a good run in the tourney, though. My early line would be Illinois -4 vs. Kansas if they met in a regional final.
