does anyone ever take the opportunity to lay off you wager at half time, say you can just lose the vig, that is if you team looks like a sure loser?

in the long run, does this pay off, or is it better to just let the bet ride. We are not talking about a middle situation, this is a lose/lose situation.

on some yes, but not all. i am talking about the ones that you can by back, and just eat the vig.

i imagine it is a bad bet. just ride it out, and home your team pulls it off.

There are times when you can get off a bet but I think you would be losing in long run. There are too many ups and downs in these games. Ride them out and trust your capping.

Personally I avoid polish middles at all costs. I also treat halftime bets like separate action or a totally different game.

the fact that you could lose both should tell you right there to ride it out.....

I took back 50% of my Hofstra play last night. Turned out to be a BAD move. Sometimes you are a hero, sometimes you are not. LT

yes, a polished middle is different than a straigh up middle.

Playing back.

If you are watching the game closely, it is not unusual to formulate an opposite opinion on the 2nd half.

I have no problem playing back the other side if it is based on a game I'm following closely.

The middle/get middled consideration isn't that important. Bets have to stand on their own and be + expectation, or they don't get made period. Having said that middle or polish middle I will often bet more than my usual 2nd half bet size if I bet the opposite way 1st half.

Example: I play two units on team A -3 vs. team B. Team B is dominating and up 2 at halftime. I typically play only a unit on 2nd halves. I likely would play 1.5-2 units on Team B 2nd half +3. If Team A wins by 2, I shake my head, and I shake the bookmakers hands. But no way worrying about a possible polish middle is it going to keep me from betting Team B 2nd half if they have over a 53% to cover that 2nd half!

Key word is sure loser, if it was a sure thing the books wouldn't be giving you a line. I have messed with this in the past and I think % wise it is a bad Idea since you are paying juice.

Have tried to hedge halftime bets many times in the past. Probably haven't done so in a year. I ride em' out UNLESS I have over extended myself from the start and maybe came to my senses by half with an opportunity to get some back. If you are in over your head and are lucky enough to get a few hedge points at half then I would highly recommend it as long as you cant lose both. If you just have a unit on a game, then let it ride.
