I mean after the Pacers / Piston fiasco of this year, which created a great deal of increased racial tension.

Has this man lost his mind. He admits he sent in a brawler to actually commit an act of violence. Now he is suspended for the remainder of the year!!!

He has not helped racial tension in this regard, and he adds to an already troubled image in the basketball arena. And he does it with college level students.

And people wonder why racial tension and metropolitan violence does not improve. And why children are being raised with the wrong focus, and they show their ignorance when they grow up and become adults.

I wonder why blacks get a 'free pass'...it goes both ways, but blacks seem to be able to get away with more, its become politically correct for the media to only point out black racisim...

If a white guy said what Bonds did the NAACP would be on him so fast with Jessie Jackson all over CNN....

He has lost it. He's done some really weird things this year, even for Cheaney. He went off on a political tirade, ripping the voters of Ohio at a dinner function. Benched two starters for not wearing hats when it was cold, ripped his entire team and called them jack asses after a win, and now this. I'm sure i'm missing a tirade or two as well.

Well not to take this thread to far. It is the credo that exists within the Black community, that allows a double standard in that regard.

What I have a problem with wether black or white, is when we

DO NOT MAKE EXAMPLES OUT OF HIGH PROFILE PEOPLE, AND DETER THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. I will say if I were a Black Man, and if I was I would be proud, and I would walk up to John Chaney and say "THANKS FOR NOTHING"

"Thanks for actually providing an EXAMPLE of the incorrect prejudice we fight every day"

The guy looks like he's about to drop dead...Temple should cut him from the program before he drops dead at courtside...

It looked like an attack from Black Athletes on the public. It looked like an inner city activity. sherman......I will not address that with more, That increased racial tension from the fans perspective. I did not say warranted. just the messenger

Fran Friscilla said last night that as much as it pains him to say it the Atlantic 10 needs to step up and suspend him for the rest of the season.

I wholeheartedly agree. It will be a travesty if nothing else is done.

Well, how does one verbally describe what I am trying to say other than describe the location, the demographics, and a description of the people involved.

I guess what I am saying is that I am disappointed that so soon after the Pistons/Pacers Fan-Player hostility

That we have a infamous head coach at a strong medical college tell a youth (under 21) to go and harm another player for the sake of making a statement about the officials in a game.

I mean what would you do to a high school basketball coach if he initiated somehting like that??? And I also bring race into this because Chaney is on record for proclaiming his own prejudices all his life.......Well he just created his ending legacy of his lifes strife. He aided his anti-cause

He's become a disgrace to himself and to a great university like Temple. I used to admire him for how his teams played hard, played the toughess shedule in all of college basketball never ducking any big time program, and how he instilled disapline in his players. I truly believe he cares about his players beyond the court. What sadens me is that in recent yrs he has used his "legacy" as a vehicle to get away with his crazy actions.

Gee I didn't know Bobby Knight was black.

HE got fired remember? He pushed a kid. So the temple coach sent another kid
in to hurt him and got only suspended! So who got the pass?

This would never have been noticed if the player hadn't gotten hurt. I mean, it seems like he basically sent him in there to use come fouls and not allow easy baskets. I'm pretty sure this happens a lot in both college and NBA. I mean, did he send him in there telling him to try to hurt the guy? This sets a dangerous precedent. If a coach now sends a player in to commit fouls and an opposing player gets hurt, is the coach automatically responsible?

haven't they been doing this for years in hockey.
The solution would be the other team sends in their goon to face the goon, they square off and it's over.

And hired by someone else. And it isn't just that BK "pushed a kid". He's thrown chairs, assaulted police officers, and his career is marked with out of control behavior. In fact, this week was the 30th "anniversery" of his famed chair throwing incident, and all the idiot sports reporters who look back on it do so nostalgically, like "hahaha remember when ol' Bobby threw that chair". But Knight is white so he gets to do whatever he wants, while certain "Temple alums" from across the street call Cheney an embarassment to the human race, because he can't stand the idea that blacks have taken over "his" university.

I think its the 20th yr. This has nothing to do w/ race or comparing him to Bob Knight. John Chaney dilibritly put in a player for the specific reason to hurt players on the opposing team. He was shown on the sidelines punching his fist, which indicated what he wanted the player to supposedly do. He even admitted to that those were his intentions. He is an embarrassment to himself, the university, and basketball in general for those actions.

imo, it's borderline criminal b/c a player on St Joe's was hurt. John Byrant, a senior, will miss the remainder of the season b/c of Chaney's actions. That kid has to pay the price and miss what's left of his basketball career. I wish he'd sue Temple, Chaney, the A-10 and whom ever b/c the act was pre-meditated, and diliberate. He sent a player in there with the intent to hurt. And he even admitted it. And that goes beyond a basketball game, race or whatever.
