addiction....i got a couple of local cardrooms here....bay 101 and garden city....now since im only a tournament player i dont spend as much time in there as most of the others....but when you look at the people who are playing....they look so sick to me....pale white, no laughing involved unless its 2-4....i know im addicted but i know i can show solid profit over a 3 to 6 month period, i wish i could go back in time and not get involved in gambling....its a fuckin disease but i love it.

Depends entirely upon the individual and their predisposition to addiction\obsessive-compulsive behavior.

In the end, the massive explosion of poker will certainly lead to some serious problem gamblers. It's kind of like drinking.....some people just can't do it.

FISH will attest they let eighTEEN year olds gamble here at the hard rock in tampa. They are at my table on weeknights even when they have HIGH SCHOOL classes in the morn. Not to mention all the USF college crowd here every night playing dollar poker.

Makes me feel old when i hear Van Halen Jump playing and tell the the table it reminds me of High School and the kids there say, "Hey dude i wasn't even born yet when that came out." If your born before march 1987 your good to play here in Tampa.

Makes me feel old, too. I would say there's a high probablity that the increase in poker playing among the young will lead to more addictied gamblers. That's pretty simple math.

Really depends if he is an advantage player.

I think its important to teach kids to gamble, risk v. reward. I am not encouraging my kid to be a degenerate like me.. but be a gambler like a Bill Gates, Henry Ford or other captains of industry.

Buzz, good post. Life is one big gamble/risk. Just remember to stay principled and take gambles only when you truly believe the odds are in your favor, not just risk-taking for the its own sake.

The chances of a teen taking up poker and being profitable at ALL, are a HUGE UNDERDOG!!

Everybody thinks poker is so easy, gotta love it.

Fish is right, 99% of people playing out there think they are good....we can't all be good....though i may be in that 99%

A pro poker player friend of mine has a 7 year-old son who is apparently in the plus column in micro limit holdem at pokerstars.

Amercian society is very prudish. The system tries to raise your kids for you. To the media and teachers who try to brainwash my kids I say this is where you can put all your "well meaning" advice:

Speaking of kids, take a look at the starting front row in the NASCAR race at Fontana later today.
