Who is the rookie of the year in the NBA?

I believe the list has been narrowed down to 4 candidates:

Okafor, Howard, Gordon, and Deng. Personally I think it is going to come down to Gordon and Okafor. Gordon leads the NBA in double-digit 4th quarters with 16. He has been a huge part of the Bulls success. Not sure how much team success changes ROY voting though. What does everybody else think?

Emeka Okafor, F-C, Charlotte (No. 2)
Stats: 14.8 PPG, 10.9 RPG, 0.9 (26.6 PRA)

Dwight Howard, F, Orlando (No. 1)Stats: 10.4 PPG, 9.6 RPG, 0.9 APG (20.9 PRA)

Luol Deng, G-F, Chicago (No. 7)Stats: 12.4 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 2.3 APG (20.2 PRA)

Ben Gordon, G, Chicago (No. 3)Stats: 14.5 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 1.9 APG (18.9 PRA

Howard and Okafor also both average over 1.5 Blocked shots per game. You would think Ben Gordon would rank somewhere reasonably high in steals, but actually Kirk Hinrich is Chicago's primary thief with 1.5 steals per game.(He's also what makes that team go) Howard will be the much better player in the long run as he is going to very dominant. He doesn't have to concern himself with scoring right now as he has Hill, Turkoglu, and Kobe Bryant the second, Steve Francis taking all of the shots.....

I have never been a real fan of the huskies but I do like what I see...I know its true i have been posting alot about UCONN players..I was thinking the same thing...I have kind of become a Huskies fan, will be pulling for them, I like the way they play the game...

Jim Calhoun is as good a college coach as there is today....even if he did use illegal and immoral tactics to steal Rudy Gay from Maryland:howdy:

FTR- I think Okafor probably will win it because big men usually garner more attention in these awards, I personally think Gordon has meant more to his teams success....

Chicago playing this well, come on this team was a CBA team the past 3 years..I am stunned at how quickly Deng has developed, he can even knock down the three with a nice outside touch!

This should be an easy selection, Okafor has made the Bobcats a pretty strong expansion team. I don't think you can underestimate what an accomplishment it is to potentially finish with a better record than established teams in the NBA. Not starting out with NBA-level starters is an extremely tough task and the Bobcats didn't go for any quick fixes so to have wins in double digits reflects very highly on Okafor. Besides how many expansion squads beat teams like the Heat, the Kings, and the Rockets?

Here is a piece from an article that touches on what happened. Williams thought Calhoun crossed the line even though they didn't break any rules. I haven't been impressed with Gay at all so far this year.

Later in November, Calhoun won a controversial recruiting battle for prized forward Rudy Gay. The much-hyped prospect seemed on the verge of committing to Maryland, especially after he attended Midnight Madness in College Park. It appeared that Gay only chose to travel to Storrs after UConn paid $22,000 to the organization that runs Gay's AAU team to schedule a scrimmage between the Huskies and Gay's Beltway Ballers.

Which one has the most Paternity Suits against him? That is my vote for Rookie of the year.
