Tampa Bay Buccaneer Dwight Smith was arrested overnight at a McDonald's on Dale Mabry and Erlich Road.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said two men ahead of Smith in the drive-thru recognized him and got out of their cars and approached him at about 4 a.m.
Investigators said when the people would not leave, his passenger got out, threw a punch and Smith pulled out a BB or pellet gun.
The two men went inside the McDonald's and called the police.
Deputies arrived and found Smith and his passenger in the drive-thru and searched his car.
Smith, 26, is facing charges of aggravated assault with a weapon. He posted bail and was released from jail on $2,000 bond today. This is the second time he has been arrested.
