what the hell kind of name is the nationals anyways. the leauge is named national.

The Senators name I believe is not available as the Texas Rangers, the last Senators, own the rights to the name.

Throughout the history of the two different Senators franchises both were also often referred to as the Nationals. Even were nicknamed the "Nasty Nats.

An old Topps baseball card set in the early 50's even referred to them as the Nationals.

Best they could do to bring back some nostalgia I guess.
