Does anyone have a remedy that does NOT include drugs. Whether they be prescription or not. I've been having much trouble lately sleeping. The lack of sleep has NOTHING to do with gambling, but rather stress. I figured that plenty of people are under extreme amounts of stress as related to their gambling.

Just looking for some sort of help.

BTW- My doctor prescribed Ambien for me and it works...OK. As I said before I would rather not use any drugs since I am a recovering addict.

Thanks again for reading.:103631605

Get some exercise, Run if you can, Walk briskly for some distance if you can't, this works just as well. Stay off the drugs, exercise is more effective than anything,:muscles: also you get some great ideas while working out whatever that may be. Move!

Krispy Kreme:

There are often times other medical reasons that can cause insomnia. May I suggest that you speak with your physician about having a sleep study performed. Depending on any medical coverage you may have, it is normally covered. Taking Ambien on a continuous basis is not good for you in the long run. As the guys have said previously, a solid exercise program should improve your ability to sleep as well because it removes tension from your body. I hope you can find improvement in the near future.

Guys-

I've been told NOT to excercise too close to bedtime. My doc said that all of the blood pumping and **** like that would cause my sleep patterns to be "out of wack." I rarely drink coffee or sodas so the caffeine issue is moot. If you're going to ask me about my alcohol intake, well that is moot also. I gave up drinking about 6 months ago on the advice of my surgeon.

Now are there any homoeopathic cures that any of you guys may have heard about?

Exercise should be done in the morning if possible. Prior to going to bed, it is important to find some easy time. No work or performing tasks that stimulate your brain. Quiet time, like reading, watching a little television, listening to music. All meant to calm you down.

I use Ambien regularly. If you can be on a regular sleep schedule and can get enough sleep each night, it works like a charm. Other than that, just have a comfortable bed, pillow and surroundings.

And I don't think Ambien is an issue with addiction. Sure you night take it nightly to sleep, but that's not an addiction, that's just to help you get something you need -- sleep. It's not like you're going to walk around popping Ambien all day long.

Trust me Krispy Kreme, some strenuous excercise WILL work. Judging my your current screen name, "Krispy Kreme" , you need to work out 55 minutes per day.......

(55 minutes on your lunch HOUR that is!)

Used to have a problem getting to sleep. A rain and thunder CD that I now play all night has fixed the problem. Go figure. Bol.

You do not have to workout right before bed. And, it is fine to do 2 a days as well. Workout twice a day. You will tire and you will sleep better.
