He was a very late bloomer as far as a 300 game winner candidate, but Randy Johnson has an outside shot needing 54 wins...

Will Johnson get to 300?

I give him a 30% chance ...:103631605

Being w/ NY now he should be around 32 over the next 2 years and that still leaves him 22 short, I will say no.

I would think he wins close to 40 over two years, that leaves him too close to retire...

no chance. i think he will retire after either this year or next..

he knows he doesnt need 300 for entry into the hall.. so i dont think its a big deal to him.

only way he plays a 3rd year is if they win a ring both of the next 2 years and he is healthy.

Randy Johnson to announce retirement

Five-time Cy Young Award winner Randy Johnson has scheduled a conference call today at 4 p.m. "to discuss his baseball future," according to a news release sent this afternoon by his agent.

Johnson, 46, could announce his retirement. He currently is an unsigned free agent.

Johnson, an almost certain Hall of Famer, is a 10-time All-Star. He ranks second to Nolan Ryan on the all-time strikeout list. He pitched in one World Series in his 22-year career, winning three games in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 2001 victory over the New York Yankees. Johnson won Game 6 as a starter and Game 7 as a reliever.

The Montreal Expos selected Johnson from USC in the second round of the 1985 draft, three picks after the Chicago White Sox selected Jose Mota, the Cal State Fullerton infielder turned Angels broadcaster.
