I've used NT for a long time, never got into the card thing. I'll usually withdraw by having a book send me a Fed-ex when they are paying the charges. I have also received checks from NT ( $2 fee, I think) through regular mail.

Are there any bad things to know about using this method, any hidden fees or quirks. I see something about a 30-day no activity charge, that's not an issue. How much can you get per fee ? Is POS a good way to do it, or is that an extra fee ? I plan to call them about it, but request some feedback here first.

Thanks

I have used it for over a year and love it...depending on the ATM machine you can w/d up to $700 a day maybe more. The fees are reasonable and the convenience makes the fees a non issue. For large w/d I would still use the Bank wire from Neteller; but for $700-1000 a day walking around money this card is great. You can use it anywhere they accept debit cards.

I did not know that. I keep a few hundred on mine but rarely use it. Kind of for back-up. $5 a month? Kind of blows....

I think the fee only applies if you carry a balance. No balance=no fee.

I think that's fvcked up. I haven't used my card in like 8 months. I never saw that rule. There is no way to check your card activity either. I would have never known it was costing me $5 a month. I don't carry a bank debit card but is that common??? I certainly am no spring chicken but I've never heard of an inactivity fee.

Very greedy. For the industry's sake, let's hope a REPUTATBLE second option emerges and gives NT a little competition.

As it stands now, these are the only payment processing people that I trust.

Well live and learn. Thanks to Doug and The Rx at least they won't get anymore free shots at me. I love the card but the accounting is a little tough so I had been using it for backup. BTW, the card doesn't work outside the US which is kind of rude.

Are you sure it doesn't work outside the US ? i was going to try it outside the country. i thought it said on the website it does. you have personal experience trying it outside the US? or anyone else use it outside the US? Thanks

I tried it in the Netherlands Antilles and the Philippines and it was a no-go in both places. While we are at it, if you even try to login to your Neteller account in a country like the Philippines they will frigging freeze your account.

It looks like a viable option, for some money. On the other hand it's still half a percent and we operate on slim margins. The direct to the bank thing seems viable also. I think I'll add the card, but not use it exclusively. I'd still have to bank cash, but I like the flexibility it offers, if you know what I mean.

It's kind of a nice feeling ( a rush of sorts) getting the Fed-ex pay-out when you aren't paying the charges. I've had those " mis-directed" ( to use a postal term) as well. No perfect system exists.

You should have read the term John. It is clearly stated. Just use it once a month or make sure nothing is on it. Why would you want to leave anything on it when you can just have it in your neteller account until you actually need it?

Counterpoint : Why does NT need to charge the " Doormat Fee" ? Do they incur a cost by holding YOUR money ? It sounds like petty fees for no sound reason to me. I'll gladly hold anyone's money with no interest, I won't even charge you !

They don't mail statements. Why do they hold EFT's for 4-5 business days ?

They "want the world, and they want it now ! " is the answer. NT tries to extort the Instacash fee from you, by making you wait a week when they get just fees from the outfit you deposit to. They are pretty slick ! Western Union is even worse.

Unfortunately, they remain the best available method of transferring funds in our world.

When is Ken, going to hire me to write articles for him ? I'll get myself another 20,000 posts if needed. I should be paid to post !

Doug, the dormant charge is not made by neteller but by the company that operates the card (That is, they issue it, they manage the cash transactions between them and the ATM networks etc)

They do incurr in administrative charges for having a bunch of cards activated and not processing anything......................

Its horrible but nothing that we can do about it, these are ATM cards not issued by "your" bank in the conventional way....they are cash cards that are loaded by a 3rd party.

My biggest problem is NOT the fee itself but the horrible USD>CAD>USD currency exchange fees and the fact that you can't even get a transaction history on the card (obviously if you were to get this you would realize how much % they made on the transactions)

Its not as bad as western union and its quite convenient so............................
