Team,
I realize Im a bit late on the wagon here, but I finally found the time to read moneyball and its had my mind spinning all day. As Im sure most of you who have read it know by now how the A's front office quantified quite a bit and made predicting offense and even wins almost a science. As an active sports bettor, this obviously got my mind racing. Instead of all us hacks trying to prove ourselves here with crap shoot formulas (never mind the a**holes selling their "guaranteed formulas") has anyone bothered to replicate the system these clubs are using??

Ive got a rough idea of where to start, but I would be interested in collaborating with a few of you guys to make this a much more enjoyable 2005 MLB season. baseball is a sports tailor made to beating the man, with the huge amount of hard stats available at our disposal, Has anyone else thought about doing this?

good thoughts, sir, I would be interested in what you have to say.

Definitely agree that baseball is a game of statistics and the inevitable "regression to the mean" gives us a positive expectation if we can replicate a model to take advantage of such situations.

If you are looking for more info on sabermetrics, (which is essentially what Moneyball was about), check out sources like Baseball Prospectus and Baseball Forecaster and their sites. Also check sites like baseballprimer and hardballtimes.
