why isn't tradesports the way to go?

Equal or better odds, can join the action anytime. Why is a standard sb better?

Good question. I suggest asking it again in offshore forum where it will be seen. I'd like to hear some thoughts on it.

Stale,

I haven't used a betting exchange. But it appears to me that wagering through a betting exchange is only going to work for the more popular propositions and wagers. If you want to bet a superbowl prop based on running yards for a particular player (for example), it is likely that you won't find someone on the other side at Betfair or a contract already set up at TradeSports. But if you want to wager whether the New England Patriots will win the superbowl in the 2005-2006 season, I imagine such a contract or trade will be available for you to trade (or bet on).

Regular bookmakers serve as the middleman. They provide liquidity. When you want to bet, they already have the odds posted up -- and you either accept or move on. You don't have to search or wait for someone to match the other side of your trade.

Don't recall anyone asserting that there was anything particularly wrong with Tradesports. Limitations are the bets available and liquidity. If you want to place $1000 bets then it's not usually the place to go. Otherwise it can sometimes have much better value, e.g. Pinnacle has the Yankees to win the World Series at +150 while you can get +250 on Tradesports.

thanks guys. I haven't seen anything negative about ts, it's just not mentioned very often and if you have a # of sb's, I think it should be one of them.

If you already have several outs, sure, investigate what the exchanges offer. But I advise you to not depend upon Betfair and Tradesports too much. For some of the more popular wagers, like futures on major sporting events, check them for better odds. For most day to day American sports wagers, you might not find anything there.

One thing I read is that much of the activity at the exchanges (right now) is involved with Soccer and sports more popular in Europe.

Dweeb,
You have been misinformed about Betfair. You only have to E-Mail them with a request for a market and they will put it on screen. I can assure you that no matter how silly the bet, if you dont get the odds right, they will take your arm off for any amount. As for liquidity, its the same as everywhere else, the more interest, the keener the prices. The Detroit NBA game is live in Britain tonight and I can gaurantee the prices will be the best available anywhere and more than enough money to accomadate anybody. The market is also left running at all times during the game.

I use betfair/ibetx and ehorse-x, tradesports is not that crash hot if you compare it to those three. It depends on sport or horses but for sports betfair is miles ahead of the other two, liquidity is very good! Exchanges are now 99% of my wagers, mostly horses for me tho, I do check out sport odds, exchanges do offer better odds plus you can set your own odds. You'd be surprised what can get matched there.

I have been using Tradebetx for the past few months. Tradebetx is an affiliate of Tradesports. I like it. I don't use it as much as my sportsbooks, but I definitely make use of it. They have in game betting for all games. I have hedged during games and saved a lot of money.

I recommend using a betting exchange.
