Advice for Fishhead...

Fish, my man, I was just thinking about your dilemma.....you know about not being able to find the right woman....

here's advice I give to all in your situation....

start going to the grocery more often.....

yes i am serious.....

sure there are alot of weirdos there especially employees but trust me, the beast place to meet a woman is at the grocery store.....

you won't believe the number of women you are going to run into there that you will find attractive.....

if you decide to take me up on my advice, please report back and let us know what happens...

you have to give it a real attempt though.....

it never fails!

Fish supermarkets are risky and usually you will end up with 4 kids at home.

Little known fact: One of the best places to meet available women are at AA meetings, look for speaker meetings where people get up and talk (tell their story) this way you can just listen, then mingle during the break and after the meeting. Dress like you have money and you will meet someone for sure, you can talk to anyone because almost everyone is there for the same reason. One warning they do pass the basket for donations so bring a single with you. Go to about 3 or 4 meetings (same one every week) and you will meet someone.

A couple of supermarkets in San Francisco are known as singles places. One, the Safeway in the Marina is known for having all these people who work in full casual clothes suddenly coming dressed up in nice duds just to buy a few things. Even funnier are the stories of women getting made up for it.

I remember back in college there were two churches in the U-District as they call it in Seattle. They were loosely called churches because they did do some religious discussion, but everyone said as soon as you found a mate, you stopped going. The places were new faces every month, and old faces that would re-emerge after awhile. Seems silly to go to church to find a mate, but I can't help but think that is very common especially in the churches with less fervor than say the Mormon or Baptist variety.

Sherman I have been to maybe 1000 AA meetings and haven't had a drink in 15 years. People in recovery - believe it or not have found a reason to improve themselves and change their lives for the better. Unless you have done it you have no idea how difficult an addiction like drinking is to control, it takes commitment and dedicated hard work 24 hours a day, traits I find attractive in women and since when has looking good been a sin. I know dozens of couples that are happy today who met while getting their lives back in order while in recovery. Trying to pick up women at a super market is a classless and cliched exercise in wasting time.

wil, i don't know what to say.....i don't see how meeting a woman at the grocery store is classless? you do eat right?

i wasn't telling fish not to dress nice, i was telling him to dress like him, in other words, never change who you are for a woman, or anyone for that matter....

Sherman have you ever seen Fish dress? The shorts, tennis shoes and baseball cap look is not really adviasable no matter where you go to meet women. You say it never fails when you go to the grocery store to pick up woman. Be honest have you ever actually been successful in this type of endeavor yourself?

When I was younger guys met girls at clubs, at work, or through friends. I think workplace romances are probably more common than people think.

In Vegas I specialized on waitresses, bartenders, dealers and chicks that were in one part of the casino/hotel business or the other. I dated a 21 dealer from the Horsehoe for 3 or 4 years, great knockaround gal.

Of course now I am happily married to a Tica and that is a whole different story.

Wild Bill it true you had trouble getting lucky at the Del Rey while you were here?:biglaugh:

wil, yes i have met 2 girls at grocery stores that i have later :hump:

im not saying one can go to the grocery store and pick a woman every day, what i am saying is if you go to the grocery store and keep your eye out, there will be a woman you would like to approach, so do so....

but i do agree, workplace hookups are most common, i have done that many many times....

Good one Wil. I went into the Del Rey once last time, to stay out of a torrential downpour and dry myself off in the restroom. I was looking so dishelved that the girls thankfully didn't bother me :nono5:

For someone who spends so much time on an internet forum have you considered match.com or some other internet dating service? You can look at photos and profiles and really target women who interest you, at least on the surface. I told a friend of mine that regular dating is somewhat like going into a grocery store blindfolded with a can opener...you gotta open the can and taste it before you decide to eat it or spit it out (this is really turning into a bad analogy)...anyway, what I am trying to say is you gotta ask the woman out, and go on the date to find out just basic info like...do you have kids? Do you smoke? Do you cook/clean or no? What are your interests?...with some of these sites you can find out all of this "basic" stuff before ever even meeting the person. You also initially communicate via e-mail. It's almost like in craps when you have "2 numbers working for you"...your profile is out there for the ladies to look at and contact you and then of course you can "shop" and contact them. Having said all of this fish, my buddy paid for about 3 months of service and got some e-mails but never went on a date.(most chicks that were interested in him were not up to his standards as far as looks...he is super picky and thinks just about every woman is fat unless they look like a playboy body) He had one hot chick who worked for victoria's secret of all places, but she flaked out on him after a few e-mails. You also have to put your job and income which many don't like to do. Just an idea, can't believe more people on this site haven't tried it...maybe they have?

i'm not sure if this is happening in the states too, but all the new bigger grocery stores around here have been opening with a women's only gym. it definitely helps up the number of single, attractive women.
but seeing as how i work in a grocery store - hey, i'm a student, gimme a break - if you try this, you will get pegged as creepy by employees in no time.
