I think poster Illini taking the loss very harsh. I know he hates his job but he hasn't been here in 3 days. didn't show up for poker night. haven't heard from him since the sunday debacle by the illini. hasn't returned anyones calls to him. Or he could have hopped in his car and be on his way to vegas. Talked about moving.

A move to Vegas would be huge mistake. He would probably move to Twain/Swenson area. Scum everywhere there. Driver I shared cab with murdered there. Summer is a month or so away and stays thru Oct. Brutal.

Told him it is worth giving a shot for a little while..........but told him that after 2 years there he would be ready to probably hit the road, like the majority.

In my 17 years there I seen people come and go by the hundreds on a monthly basis.........of people I knew personally.

Individuals clammer how great it would be to live in Vegas.............and many soon realize and come to the dark reality of what a not so good to town it is.

But MANY like it and intend to stay there forever, which is fine.

But they are in the minority...........and many that do stay are only lying to themselves how wonderful it is.

Illini is live and well. He hasn't been at work because of a death in our family.

Back to work today, and it's like I was never gone. This place sucks. I see no reason not to try Vegas, just for a change. Try and talk me out of it, I'm all ears.

Sorry to hear about your family tragedy Illini.

Take your time and dont make any hasty emotional decisions until your positive of where you want to go.

Maybe a 2-week vacation to Vegas would be something to consider.

Take care,

Thanks for the condolences. It was my 93 year-old grandmother, so it came as no surprise. I think I'm gonna take a two-week vacation just after the NCAA tournament. I'll go to poker school and drive all over town to pretend like I live there. See how it feels and go from there. Dealing poker seems like it would be fun for awhile. Maybe work in a sportsbook part time, too. I just get excited thinking about it. Comfortable here, but too comfortable.

i think you need more than two weeks. i spent two weeks out in Scottsdale, before I moved there. didnt really care for it after 2 months. but now that i look back on it, i LOVED it, wish i was back. weird i know. i am going to get some things taken care of here, and out west i go again........it is great out there, beautiful. cant believe i moved back.

as for vegas, i spent 5 days there once, and was ready to leave by the 3rd day, but all the drinking and gambling could have been the reason.

for whatever reason, you are young, and only live once, go for it, but be safe

I hear you, BB. I'm not a big drinker, and usually go without. I will make it a rule that I can't play any table games, just so that I can't get into any trouble. I'm like you, I love the west. Absolutely love every part of the west that I've been-AZ, NV, CA, etc. Love the sunshine and mountains, and just being far away from here. I think I will respect myself a lot more if I take a risk, say WTF, and just do it. I know there are a lot of people here pulling for me. Those married leashed up townies want to live vicariously through me.

you wont regret it trust me, you can always move back. no one is ever 100% ready to make a change. and no one really knows what it will be like unless they do it. you can spend a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, but it all is different when you are actually there. you will see what i am talking about.

man, i sure do miss sitting in the hot tub at 50 degree's on a Jan. night sipping a cold one. it was great.

like i said, ****, go for it, what do you have to lose.

If you want to move west try Provo. Not kidding, beautiful town. Computer hookup is all you need nowadays. Have to live with bunch of Mormans so you will be outsider. Its a good place to stop on way out anyway. Guarantee you could get a job in Vegas as cabdriver though. 3-day training includes pics of murdered drivers, including my friend referenced above. Go online to Review Journal to employment stuff too. G

I loved Salt Lake City, that was a cool town. Mormons are nuts, but they are good and nice people. How much do full-time cabbies make in Vegas?
