Playing alone or at a table of 6, is there a difference? There are some general rules referred to. What are some of them?

Thanks

That is a start. What about hitting on a 14 w/ the dealer showing an (A)Ace?

Blackjack basic strategy is available at many internet sites; in
general you always hit to 17 against dealers 7 thru Ace; never
take insurance, including even money on Blackjack (which is
insurance in disguise).

But always stand against dealer's 2-6 (the only exception:
hit 12 vs. 2).

All of above assumes you have no split or doubledown - more
on that later.

By the way, my wife is playing the finals of the Hilton Million
Dollar Blackjack Tourney in May!

I can't even get alot of so called "experts" to understand this concept. It is a must.

Yes, agreed - this is an excellent source.

Take note that strategy changes as casino rules and number of
decks in play changes.

Good stuff Men. Do you always double on a 3/7(10) vs a dealer showing 9 or lower?

Hard Dbls

Hard Dbls contain no Ace; Dbl down:
9 vs. 3 thru 6
10 vs. 2 thru 9
11 vs. 2-10 (and vs. Ace in 1 or 2 deck game)

Do NOT dbl an 8; only correct when deck is very
favorable, vs. 5 or 6, and you may be identified as "counter".

Playing flat betting you should, i think. At least according to the BJ rules
of the basic strategy cards i have. But i tend to take into consideration
how the previous hands have been going. And I don't usually double if
i have already doubled up on my previous bet's amount, but if i am using
the "house's money" {& am up a fair bit for the session} then i might
take the risk, just for the hell of it.

In addition to the above there is an exception for dealer no hole card (European rules) when a dealer blackjack wins all doubled and split bets as occurs in some online casinos. In this case against ten and ace don't split 8's and don't double 11.

I have a tough time getting myself to split 8's vs. an ace or 10.....very tough time.

Loss Reduction

Splitting 8's vs. an Ace or 10 is a loss reduction play;
you will lose more money standing/hitting with one unit
than you will playing two 8's at one unit each.
But it's surely no fun!

Regarding "the hands before" :

if you are not a card-counter, then you must assume
that you are playing into a neutral deck with a dis-
advantage of .2 to 1.5% depending on the rules.

Whatever has happened before is immaterial to what will
happen on this or your next (infinite number) of hands.

All progression or regression betting is pointless; if anything,
progression betting leads to over-betting bankroll which is
the sure way to ruin.

You are an underdog on EVERY hand before the cards are dealt.:sad3:

How about General is posting topics which may help others who are afraid to ask questions?

surrender (if avail) 88 is better than spliting when dealer shows A,10,9

to me splitting 88 makes no sense regardless if dealer shows A,10,9.

You would split 8"s if the dealer has a paint or a ace up, noway I would ever do that.
