Wow, Depaul gets hosed again...

Having to go on the road to Mizzou (16-16) in the first round...

Always wondered how they decide who gets home games and who doesnt...

I would think they rate the tourney teams 1-32 and the top 16 get home games, and so on....

But guess not, cuz i dont think Depaul would be considered the 17th or below team in the NIT...

Indiana gets a tough first game as well, in Vanderbilt.........yuk

Looks as if i was partly right, Maryland, Indiana, Notre Dame all start with home games, in seperate brackets so they could possibly make it to NY...

Expected Depaul or Memphis to be in the other bracket, but Depaul in same bracket as notre dame, and Memphis in same bracket at Indiana

Two things decide it. One, do you have the building available and two, how many people will fill those seats. NIT is all about making money, they get a cut of the ticket revenues so they want as much attendance as they can get. Depaul doesn't draw that well and Mizzou does, so that was an easy choice for them. Often disappointed NIT teams are the worst to get home games because pissed off fans want no part of watching it.

Depal is a BAD team

Plain and simple

BAD is a rather relative term. Relative to all other NIT teams, DePaul is a GREAT team, not just in the top half, but among the top 5. Hard to figure why they wouldn't host unless it's based on something nobody is aware of. Actually it probably would be a problem for DePaul to host weekend after next, given that there is an NCAA regional on their home court. Maybe that has something to do with it.

There are some pretty good teams in the NIT...

I also thought DePaul deserved a better fate than the NIT...
