MLB umpire....3/4 days you would be on the bases, which isn't very hard, especially with no runners on base. Doing the plate is significantly harder.

NHL ref would be fun too. Skating around with the hair flowing, Kerry Fraser-style would be fun.

An even better job would be MLB scout.

I think MLB umpires have less heat than little league umps these days. Those parents are ridiculously brutal and nasty. Easier to ignore some drunken bum in the stands, but when its someone that lives in your community that you know differently that has to be a bad spot.

I umpired for 12 seasons. I heard way more shi t when I started with 11 and 12 year-olds than I did at the D1 college level. The higher the level, the less complaining. Basketball is different, because half the gym hates every call, but baseball is a lot easier sport to officiate. The only problem with baseball is that they can come onto the field to argue. They can't do that in any other sport. And you can't throw a flag or call a T. You have to eject or not eject. And once you eject them, they are gonna get their money's worth. So 99% of it goes smoothly, but you have a mess to clean up when something happens.

Too much stuff to worry about on every pitch. It's not a walk in the park and a front row seat to "watching" great baseball. It's a job. But it can be fun if you take pride in it.
