Royal Sport said it will submit the winning bid June 10 at Sotheby's for the 1919 document that sold George Herman Ruth, aka The Bambino to the New York Yankees for $100,000 and started the Red Sox curse.
The casino intends to give the Red Sox the contract to dispose of in order to officially end the curse the Sox broke last year. According to the auction house the document is “easily the most important sports document in history.”
The 11-by-14-inch contract, printed on onion-skin legal paper, belongs to Rhode Island philanthropist Alan Feinstein, who plans to donate the proceeds to selected world-hunger organizations.
