Just wondering how many RX posters were in town for the opening weekend. I stayed at the Imperial Palace and Flamingo Weds till Sunday. I have never seen so many in town. :drink:  :smoker2: :toast: :103631605

Sounds cool...when I lived there I used to play tennis alot at the Flamingo and hang at the pool. Most I have ever seen in town was for the Delahoya fight in '97, i forget who he was fighting but it was a parking lot on LVB. G

Craziest times used to be back in late 90s when Comdex was here. People weren't gambling, but it was a mob scene north of Flamingo. Some traffic guy in a helicopter was in horror with each traffic report. He said it would be quicker to walk back to a hotel than take a cab. Problem was he said it looked like thousands were doing just that so it was a sea of people around the Convention Center too. Those times were nuts, people were putting on secondary shows in every suite in town. You literally could not book a decent suite in town because every tech idea had to have a suite to show it off privately. Casino managers today talk about how nice it is not having Comdex, they hated it. They might get a decent crowd in the pits after 10pm, but before that and all around the slots it was a ghost town. For sheer volume though it was hard to beat that time, the visitors, the media, the bigwigs...it was all the biggest zoo you ever saw.

Wildest time I ever saw was New Years Eve 2000. That was the year someone was electrocuted climbing the power pole by the Paris I believe. I was outside in front of the Barbary Coast and there were lots of gals climbing up on light poles showing us their breasts. Before long the police came in and pulled the gals down, handcuffs them and hauled them off in Paddy wagon. Some guy jumped near me and his flailing arms knocked off my glasses to the street. Of course my glasses were almost immediately smashed into dust by about 1000 feet. :drink:  :smoker2:

The kid who got electrocuted was a Stanford grad! Shows GED holders don't have the lock on stupidity. He was climbing a tree and the movement of the tree from his weight caused it to touch an electric wire.

I was there 4 of those years.

Everyone bitched as all of the propellar heads wouldn't gamble or tip.

I was a noteable exception and was treated well. Didn't bet big$$ but was there every day.

Had breakfast with Bob Stupak - what a moron.:monsters-

Comdex and Ces were complete zoos. Any NY Eve insane also. That was when it was centered downtown. I worked them all as a hack. Worst conventioineers...the Baptists had a convention. Followed by the Mexican holiday in October. Forget about a tip.
