MANSION is no longer an advertiser on this site. I understand they were quite upset about some of the threads that didn't depict them in a favorable light...

The irony in all of this is that they admitted to getting good results from being listed here...

But, they decided not to renew, so let's not read anything else into this...

However, I no longer will back anyone using Mansion with money coming out of my own pocket...

Afterall, that would not make good business sense...

Be careful who you choose to do business with after the next 2 weeks. I know books hate to take bases and any book that is just staying afloat will get buried in the beginning of baseball.

Puzzling, to say the least. New book, tons of money behind, primarily marketing wise money in North America, going no juice on the p2p against betfair.

They planned to float in the future, will be interesting to see if they manage to remain afloat to begin with.

That is odd. Especially since most posts that I recalll were extremely favorable. The only "negative" posts if you can even call them that, were posters questioning how much longer can Mansion continue to lose money. But as for thier service, payouts, and lines, I think they always recieved very high grades.

marc,

I also felt the same way. It appeared to me that the overwhelming majority of the threads were very favorable about them but the few that weren't got them quite angry, and particularly with me...

I thought I went above and beyond that call of duty by guaranteeing them for some gamblers...

I apologized to them regarding a thread that Roberto started involving their "losses" and what their "nut" was...

One of their main guys who is in charge of advertising over there appears to find nothing wrong with burning bridges...

We all make mistakes, but apparently my apology wasn't good enough for him...

If he treats his customers in this fashion, I suspect either the customers will leave or he will...

Why should you apologize (unless it was only for "business" reasons).

A forum like the RX is supposed to be a free exhange of information and opinions. That is what I believe occurred. Mansion, or any of ints representatives, were always free to adress any comments made and provide either clarification or supporting documenation (or documentation verifieed by a 3rd party if they did not want to post inside information on the web).

I really believe this to have a been a good example of how the forum should work. Everyone could read the information and make their own decisions, incluidng Shrink's decision to back losses out of pocket (I guess while they were an advertisor).

I have read about many poeple who made money and were happy, for me, I decided to take a pass on them.

Gl to them and all who use them

assassin,

I apologized to Mansion because of ONE negative post I made about them regarding their "losses"...

I know I didn't have to do that but since they were paying to be on this site, I felt it was the right thing to do...

I also suggested that they might want to address some of the issues our posters were raising, but they didn't want to engage with any of you on this site...

Suffice to say I no longer play there, but in all fairness to them, I still believe they are deeply funded and safe...

Many things seem to have changed with Mansion since David Dent's unexpected departure.

Dent, one of the most respected professionals in the industry, has been allegedly credited of having stated he had enough of Mansion's operation manager's inconsistency.

True or not I am personally aware of a serious warning sign: one extremely respected person in the industry received threats from Mansion's operation manager a while back. Tomeny went to the extent of leveraging on this person's money to obtain what he wanted.

I have no problem in making this statement despite the fact that Tomeny is busy suing me. It will be my pleasure to bring the person to testify in the allegedly upcoming court case.

The main figures behind Mansion's marketing -former Green Room Media- were never notorious for being talented diplomats.

I personally think you went the extra mile for them and offered as much advice as a sharp player can possibly offer, while always respecting other people's opinion. They probably need to understand there's no need for fascist controls among intelligent people. It seems they might need a PR expert after all.

Nevertheless, Kudos on your forthcoming approach.

After reading about Mansion here in the past and about their Billionaire owner it kinda reminds me of a millionaire friend of mine. All I heard for years was how he wanted to open a bar and it would be just like Cheers where everyone wanted to hangout. It was a good idea and could have been a success but he insisted on doing things his way and offering all kind of free drink specials etc. instead of hiring a GM with a proven track record to run the place. It lasted about six months and lost God knows how much money; but atleast now he can say he used to own a bar. He almost lost his marriage over this adolescent mid-life crisis stunt, too.

Interesting stuff here. I tried three times emailing and once calling to see if they would respond to some of the questions posters had early on and got nothing out of them. I finally talked to someone on the call, but he was like a stone wall. Even though I write for a site they advertised on, they didn't seem to think you all needed to know anything more than what they advertised on the website. A contact I have at another European based book talked about it briefly and said to many European managers advertising is like a simple billboard on the road. Take it or leave it, but don't ask me to expand upon it.

He said this cultural difference could be a big reason why so few Americans are regulars with Euro-centric books. Europeans are just far less demanding when it comes to customer service and hand holding. You put something on offer and customers decide to take it or leave it. They don't call you up asking you to sweeten the offer a bit.

I, as well, wish them the best. No major complaints, payments sent, CS good. Maybe PR person is not best. Like stated several times, books should partake in forum, but find a strong person who can take some heat for the job. There is value in hanging with your clients, even thru some tough battles. I am not sure. No matter, I hope they do well and all players are treated good.

this is disappointing.....

if they were upset about what was said in the threads, why did they not come here & talk to us?

or maybe they just found that the 'sign ups' generated from this site were not generating 'square' accounts.....

does this mean my 'guarantee' is no longer on the table Shrink?

SS,

I thought I made it clear that I will not continue to back a sports book who doesn't advertise with this site any longer...

Despite numerous attempts on my part go get Mansion to respond to some of your concerns and questions, they chose not to engage...

As far as handling Wise Guy business, in their own words, they told me to "bring it on" when I inquired how they felt regarding sharps...

it is clear SHRINK,

thanks for the offer while it lasted :103631605

I actually just lost all my funds there on the weekend, so I will have to see what they do for bases before I decide to re-load.
