Hope all you Nascar and March Madness fans had a good time, I know I enjoyed being away from the craziness.
Took almost an hour to get a cab home from the airport on Sunday at midnight, so evidently everyone didn't leave town.

I enjoyed a couple weeks with my family and nephew, go to eat at some fine restaurants. Attended an NIT game at the MCI, and saw loads of tournament action and had many beers.

Pleasantly surprised to see the poker room ran pretty smoothly without me. Prepping for some baseball action and ready to kick it into high gear.

actually I was right outside DC on the Virginia side, went down to the Hampton/Newport News area for a dinner on a weekend.

Shrink,
I highly recommend the Surf Rider restaurants in the Va. Beach area for you.
Stop by if you get a chance out here. Too bad you're slumming at Bellagio.

Tesco,
Aggers at least left the program in better shape than when he got there. They have a good nucleus with Knight and Worthy. I think he was hurt by Brandon's injury, if he plays all year the Lions finish in the middle to top half of the conference. A couple guys I'd like to see considered are Russell Turner (Stanford connection with Husak and UNC ties), George Tarkanian (perhaps a pipe dream because of the name, but has produced everywhere), Dave Fehte (don't know where he's at, but he's who we should have chose in '92), and the coach at Redlands (hey, if we're not gonna win at least let's score some points again, 132 a game this year).
I'm very against an Arizona coach because I don't respect Lute. Gonzaga is a program every mid-major should be emulating, so I have no problem there. As much as I don't like him, Romar has done a great job at UW and they are the most entertaining team in college, so one of his assistants might deserve a shot--isn't Tyus Edney coaching there?)
Just my two cents.

Cameron Dollar is our assistant. He will probably get a call for a job after this season, but not sure if people are ready to give him a top spot. He won't leave to be an assistant elsewhere.

GD just curious why you don't ike or respect Lute or Romar? Both run clean programs bring great success to both schools. What's not to like about people that come from either staff?

I'm sorry but I have to step in here when someone says they don't respect Lute. Take a look at his ex-players and you see Steve Kerr, Tom Tolbert and Sean Elliot as commentators. They didn't learn to analyze the game from their NBA experience. The reason they are able to analyze games on TV is because Lute is a good educator. Not only does he teach them the fundamentals but he teaches them the whole game as well.

Seldom do you see a Lute-coached player not be able to speak intelligently on the game.

WildBill,
I never said I didn't respect Romar. He has done a fantastic job at UW and if one of his assistants can do something similar at LMU, I'm all for it. I mainly don't like him because he's a UCLA guy, but like I said UW is the most entertaining team to watch and he's done a helluva job there.
Dollar was the guy I was thinking of not Edney, sounds like that Ken Bone has a pretty decent resume as well.

quantumleap,

my disrespect to sir Lute stems from a firsthand personal recruiting experience, nothing more. He has an excellent track record, although my personal opinion is that he is more of a great recruiter than a great floor coach.

I don't have the records in front of me, but I don't think many U of A assistants have gone on to great success as head coaches. Jay John is doing OK, but I think he'll have a hard time making a leap to the next level in the Pac-10.

In my opinion Pastner is a little young and green for the job and that would be a giant leap of faith. Tention has a SoCal background, so being out of the loop I would guess he is the candidate talked about.

Outside of Damon Stoudamire, Wildcat players account for themselves well after college life and I agree with your synopsis. Lute must be doing something right and I hope you don't think I was being to hard on him.

Hey Green Dober- Getting ready to take a two-week vacation and go to poker dealer school out there. Which one should I go to?

Wild Bill- Wasnt Cameron Dollar already suspended for some shady activities? a true Harrik student if so.

Green- I wouldn't mind an Arizona coach since half their players are from Cali anyways. Hopefully he has some good ties in LA.
Have to hate Romar just cause he is a Pepperdine guy.

anyways, let me know if you hear anything else and likewise.

Ah, that's the other reason I disliked Romar, I couldn't remember but I knew it was more than just UCLA.

Did you know we almost hired Harrick in '92. He promised to deliver us Baron Davis in the package. Quinn gave it a thought and then ixnayed it.

Right now, I really don't care who or were we get them from. I've been hearing for almost 15 years about "restoring the roar", and it could be the Devil or Doug Christie as far as I'm concerned if they could get us some respectability and a shot at the dance.

Illini,

is this move definite now?
Do me a favor and check out the book "Poker Dealer's Manual" from the library or buy it from www.amazon.com.
Don't know if that's the exact title, but the author's are Donna Harris, Dan Paymar, and Mason Malmuth.
When do you wish to start working? Skipping dealer school altogether could save you a few bucks and if you are good enough to pass an audition, that might be the way to go.

Several casinos are starving for dealers of any ilk right now, including ours.

GD- I see no reason not to try it. I've waited here to get vested in my retirement payout, then I waited for my annual bonus, now I'm waiting till the Illini get beat or win the title. I'm gonna go for it soon. How much can a dealer start out at in poker?

Gotcha GD. I'm not that familiar with how he does recruiting so you could be right.
