Morning Ken.....

While updating my site I was checking my links page, and cross checking if linked sites have reciprocal links. When I got to SBR's links page I found this :

There are several excellent sports gambling writers who post articles on the home page. Players should avoid joining the Rx sportsbook sponsors due to the fact that some are rated as low as D- . Posters are not allowed to inform other posters that an Rx sponsor has failed or is about to fail. TheRx wrote SBR the following letter explaining their new censorship position "I am writing SBR to inform you that in our contract negotiations between TheRx.com & Royal Sports, it was included in the document that TheRx.com will not allow any negative reviews of Royal Sports..." Royal (SBR rating D-) has had 3 slow pay periods recently.

Everyone and their sisters knows that John has always had a hard on for Royal, yet I found this comment a bit over the lines.

Care to comment ?

Just when I thought I had seen it all.

So If I am understanding this correctly, gamblers should not join SBR'S sports books either eince they have many of the same sponsors? :icon_conf

As a moderater here at the RX..............

IF I PERSONALLY BECOME AWARE OF ANY FACTOR THAT ROYAL, OR ANY ADVERTISER , shows justifiable considerations to this observer that posters here at the RX should avoid them, I will most certainly let them know.

Furthermore, any poster can ask me at anytime if I am playing at a particular book that advertises here and will be more than happy to tell you why or why not.

The way I read it Darryl is that since PINNACLE advertises here, PINNACLE should be avoided...

I guess I will have to ask PINNACLE, CRIS and other MUTUAL sponsors what they think of this...

I think the main idea here is to not blindly join a book because they have a banner on the Rx. Everybody knows that pinnacle is safe and if TOW were to claim otherwise he would look like a moron with an axe to grind.

I find the spirit of that quote to be true. The blanket statement about avoiding RX sponsors is obviously absurd, but the basic fact is, whenever I open theRX, I have my grain of salt ready. I see some extremely bizarre, slanted, manipulative things posted here.

I speak based on my experience. I monitor other forums, I gamble at many, many books and I have many industry contacts I share information with. If I were to refer to theRX as a shill site to my contacts, that comment would not be considered out of line.

Judging by the defensive responses, I guess my comment here will be taken as an attack. To me, it's no big deal. That's just the way it is.

There is no substitute for having a network of unaffiliated gamblers to share information with - but I imagine few people have that. TheRX is another tool and you just have to know how to use it. I like theRX a lot.

Nimue, never said Pinnacle is not safe. Their CS has lots of room for improvement though, and this is a daily issue if you deal with players claims like I do. Excellent out, great book, cs room for improvement. Rated 10 on my site.

Shrink, no offense (well, maybe just a little), but all 'nimue' said was "the main idea here is to not blindly join a book because they have a banner on the RX". From any way you look at it, this is sound advice and is not blasting all your sponsors in any way imaginable. One should always do independent research and use their best judgments and never rely solely on any one source for such advice. Clearly you are overly defensive and, in my experience, when people are overly defensive, they tend to have something to hide.

Now feel free to "blast" me for my opinion.

And it doesn't seem to me that you've either confirmed or denied whether the following letter went to SBR:

Pretty good for a free link.

But a duck is a duck and TheRx enetring into a contract that forbids legitimate information of a sponsor has to be mentioned. The policy of limiting discussion of a sponsor, basically buying protection, should be reconsidered here and hopefully scraped as a bad idea.

I think the Shrink's comment was directed at the quote in SBR, not at nimue. I guess sometimes the use of "you" can be confusing...

This is what was said. Regardless of he meant, this is what was said. If you meant something different than it should have been worded differently.

Where is it that we limit discussion of a sponsor? The Mansion thread is a great example of the EXACT opposite.

John is claiming that it is a NEW position as expressed in that (I assume) very recent letter vis a vis Royal Sports. Maybe the backlash from the Mansion thread was the reason for the decision. Hopefully Shrink will admit the letter (assuming it's not a lie), say it was a mistake and disavow the practice of open sportsbook discussion censorship.
