Could you work for someone, other than yourself ever again? I could never(should never say never) working for someone else. The traditional 9-5 would kill me now, scary to think about really. I have become adapted to my routine for the last couple years.

but I guess if I had to, I would have no choice.

I agree with you. I ve been out of work for 3 years now but if I continue the way Im going I wont have any choice but to go back. But beleieve me,I would sell my car before i ever worked for anybody again and working the routine m-fri, 9-5 job. the thought of it makes me nervous.Hopefully bases will pull me out of this rut...it did last year.

there is no way i can do a 9 to 5 job. i love what i do. i'm my own boss.
only negative thing is that I work probably 360/365 days a year but i don't really mind since i don't consider this work.

Working 9-5 (or in my case 7:30-4:30) M-F is no way to live life. Such a shame that we have to spend such a portion of our lives doing something (in most cases) that we absolutely would rather not be doing. I'm working on it.

great question..

its been over a year now that i have " worked for myself " . i cant imagine going back..

but like someone said earlier, their might come a day when i wont have a choice.

the hardest part is staying discipline and putting in the work needed .

i am guilty way to often of being lazy.. this could be my downfall. i am a work in progress...

It'snot so bad if the job is interesting and your boss is nice and generous.

Both are hard to find, even harder finding both together.

I have been self employed for eight months now. I can say that I put in more hours, but I enjoy the ability to do my own thing when I want.

Best of luck for those who are still searching.

Started my own business in 1990 after working for someone and although it took me a while to get it going, would never go back.

Started by myself for a couple years and now have over 35 employees.

My son is in college and although he already knows everything :lolBIG: all of a sudden he is wondering why he would go to work for someone else (he is a freshman majoring in civil engineering) and wants us to think about him taking over the business and paying us a salary indefinitely.

SO bottom line, freedom, flexibility, duplicating yourself to have others bring in a buck cannot be beat. Although we have a service business and nobody knows the growing pains it takes. Sweating on paying the bills, meeting payroll, dealing with insurance and taxes and getting good help. But wouldnt have it another way.

Only person that has job security is my wife, since she sleeps with the boss.
Making sure you have good help and I sleep very well at night.
