WEAR your SEATBELT when driving....no matter how short the drive!

Do most of you make a point to do such?

To be honest, sometimes I just plain forget to buckle up, which is idiotic.

But would say that I do so at least 95% of the time.

theyre tough down there [in florida] thats all im saying. i had my troubles. and my brother got cuffed the other day for politely asking what a cops name was becuase of an altercation with his friend. the cop let him go, then gave him a ticket and said "see you in court" the paper turned out to be nothing, probably just a scare tactic. i had police sationary on my door once that had "tampering with a witness" scribbled on the back. it too, was just a scare tactic.

i find the majority of florida policeman to be very unfair and unjust.

as far as the seatbelts go, that is arguementative. but playing the percentages, it is a better idea you wear them.

of course, you hear about the high speed collisions that if they had been worn they would have ripped through the person and killed them. but the majority of the time, its in your favor to use them.

Of all the wagers in life, wearing seat belts is one of the most +EV.

I drive a 5000 lb vehicle and still wear the belt.

BTW, there was an accident in my town on a weekday afternoon on a road where the speed limit is 35 MPH and a passenger in the vehicle at fault was ejected from the minivan. Not many people speed on this road but assume he was doing 40-45, this guy is having problems right now because he caused an accident where his non-seat belt wearing daughter died.

It's so automatic for me I put on the seat belt to drive from one part of the shopping centre lot to another!

I'm about 95%, 100% if the wife is driving ! What gets me is passengers that don't buckle up when the driver does. If I get in someone's car and the driver buckles up I certainly am going to also.

I once owned a truck ( 66 Ford) without belts, back in the early 90's in Vegas. I wish I still owned that old truck.

more important than that, PLEASE don't drink and drive.

I raise my glass as much or more than anyone here, but I NEVER get behind the wheel after imbibing and I implore everyone to do the same.
Please call a friend or take a cab.

Good advice ! The DWI costs a lot, even if nothing worse happens, it usually doesn't. Everybody got a cellphone now, so if you drive badly, it's like every other car on road is cop.

I for some reason receive this obscure magazine called INC. I don't subscribe they just send it to me. It's kind of meant for budding entrepenneurs ( sp ?).

I read a business plan in there, it's done in some cities. It works like this:

You are drunk, you call them, they send out a guy on a collapsible scooter. Base charge is like $15-20, then like $3 a mile ( I'm going off memory). The driver collapses his scooter puts it in your trunk, drives you and your car home for you, then you pay him ( credit card presumably, I suppose you're expected to tip also). Then he goes on to the next drunk.

Interesting business model ! When you sober up, your car is in your driveway, and you are probably happy. If the cost isn't outrageous it can work. The problem is getting the drunk driver to have the judgement to use this service. It probably most appeals to a guy that knows he faces time for another DWI charge, and has some money.

It's a neat idea anyway, it could work under correct conditions.

I have no idea how I get this magazine, or why. It's cheap to subscribe and a decent read. The only clue I have is once or twice sent for some literature used my initials and called myself D*J Enterprises, which doesn't exist as a true company, it's just a fantasy company. I've called myself Dr. J******** before when ordering a magazine ( like Playboy, or Maxim) or such, just for fun. Apparently this mag comps me a subscription. I've yet to receive the NE Journal of medicine, or other trade journals for us doctors.

INC is a good read, I've been getting it for at least 2 years now. Never got a bill !

I never understand why you would ever not wear one. I mean you either always do it or never. It becomes a very good habit to have and once you wear it a few times I bet you don't even notice it for all you non-wearers. Sort of like driving a stick really, seems difficult and annoying at first, but before you know it becomes like breathing.

Yes, for the right person. Take a risk-free issue, mark your bill cancel if you don't like it. I'd almost subscribe myself if I didn't get it free already !
