I recently got a check from Neteller and I tried to endorse it to someone, but they couldn't cash it because apparently third-party endorsements are not allowed on this type of check. So they just sent it back to me.

My question is: can I still cash it myself, or do I have to return it to Neteller and get a new one? It's got my signature in the right spot and underneath I wrote: "Endorsed to: John Doe". Apart from these two markings the check is still in its original condition. Can I just cross out the "Endorsed to.." part leaving just the signature, and deposit it to my own account or will the banks make an issue of there being something crossed out?

Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks.
