<TABLE class=style18 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=top><TD width=570>that NBA players are being bought on a daily basis, check out the last 43 seconds of the Orlando/Atlanta game:

43.0 ORL Shooting foul on Mario Kasun
43.0 ATL Josh Smith made 1st of 2 Free Throws
43.0 ATL Josh Smith missed 2nd of 2 Free Throws
43.0 ATL Offensive Rebound by Boris Diaw
42.0 ATL Josh Smith made Slam Dunk, Assist Boris Diaw
34.0 ATL Personal foul on Royal Ivey
34.0 ORL DeShawn Stevenson missed 1st of 2 Free Throws
34.0 ORL DeShawn Stevenson missed 2nd of 2 Free Throws
34.0 ORL Offensive Rebound by Brandon Hunter
32.0 ORL Lost ball turnover on Brandon Hunter, Stolen by Josh Childress
24.0 ATL Josh Childress made Slam Dunk, Assist Royal Ivey
8.0 ORL Lost ball turnover on Pat Garrity, Stolen by Donta Smith
3.0 ATL Donta Smith made Driving Layup
0.0 End of period.

The Magic are up by 14 with 43 seconds left...easy cover for the fave, right?...WRONG!

First, they foul. Atlanta makes the first FT and misses the second. The Hawks then get the offensive board to make it a 3-point play. Then, Orlando misses 2 FT's. They get the offensive board, but "somehow" lose it out of bounds on a turnover. Eight seconds later, they allow a dunk. Orlando, then up by only 9, but still a cover, commits another TO with only 8 seconds left. Atlanta is allowed to go the length of the floor and scores on a layup with 3 seconds left, giving the Hawks the cover.

I didn't have any money on this game, but sometimes they make it a little too obvious.</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

LOL....The thought crossed my mind, I doubt it though, just two crappy teams that don't really care anymore and anything could happen. We talked about them in the "mailed it in" thread earlier tonight.

I cannot believe that so many gamblers that have been around this so long do not think games are fixed they always say oh no it was not fixed. If you dont think that ending was fixed well the hell with it. I wish these threads would stop popping up, I can understand some of you saying college is not fixed but the nba is a total joke. anyway have a hell of a night!

Am I seeing this right???

All orlando had to do was dribble out the clock and still turned it over and allowed another bucket?

What baffles me about people Crying Fix is the fact that nobody is forcing you to play the side you choose. If the games are fixed, get in on these fixes and start winning. Assuming you are right in that they're fixed, doesn't this imply that multiple people are not only in on the fixing (in the case of this game the scrubs at the end of the bench which makes no sense) but know who will win. Fins out who these people are and JOIN THEM. If the games are fixed, so should be winning bets.

JMan I watched the game and what happend here was Smith put some mini-press type pressure on Garrity, who I don't think new what was on the clock, and he turned it over trying to get accross the half-court line.

I didnt have either side but if anyone believes some of these nba games are not fixed there is no way they gamble on them on a nightly basis, another game tonight in chicago where the total was anywhere from 180.5 to 182 where the final was 94-86 memphis hit a shot right at the buzzer imo clearly before the buzzer the ref waived it off it was meaningless so they didnt even look at it. nba games are fixed not all of them but most definitly some of them. I know there will be plenty to chime in with the ole bs oh alan I cant believe you said that games are not fixed but its interesting. My question is does anyone here agree and believe the nba is fixed quite often?

glaken down 9 with under 20 seconds why would smith put any type pressure on garrity had he not wanted to cover the spread? I mean hell half the time by that point they are walking off the court.

Alan, lets assume for a second that your are right and the games are fixed. Who is doing the fixing (the league office, refs, players, coaches,?). That's a lot of people that have to be in on it. Are the players not making enough money to risk getting thrown out of their livelihood? Do the players really play an entire 48 minute game knowing the TOTAl is 180-182 only to have it come down to the last 30 seconds and actually care whether it goes OVer or under? Half of the guys in the league can't even add the combined score nor know what an OVer/Under is.

THAT WAS DEFINITELY A GOOD BUCKET AT END OF CHICAGO/MEMPHIS GAME. I HAD UNDER, BUT BAD BEAT FOR THOSE THAT HAD OVER.

I FIGURE IT'S QUITE OFTEN SOMEONE HAS THEIR HANDS ON GAMES. THE BEST I HOPE FOR IS THAT I CAN BEAT THE NUMBER AT THE MARGIN BY SHOPPING FOR THE BEST # AND GETTING IN BEFORE MOVES.

THUS, I DO MY BEST TO BET 'DUMB' MOST NIGHTS AND ESPECIALLY NBA AND NFL SIDES.

I used to think games were fixed until I read more about the ASU basketball scandal a few years back. Certainly if a game is fixed there would be good money on the side of the fix and the books would know about it just as they knew about the ASU game.

There is simply not enough money in a fix for it to go un-noticed. Any significant amount of money would be detected. The league or the players make more than the money that would be lost if a fix were in.

HOW CAN A GAME NOT BE FIXED WHEN YOU ARE UP BY 10, THE POINTSPREAD IS 9.5, YOU HAVE THE BALL WITH 24 SEC LEFT BOTH ON THE GAME AND ON THE SHOT CLOCK, YOU ARE PLAYING AT HOME ... 99% OF THE TIME YOU NEVER TRY TO SCORE AGAIN, THE OPPOSITION NEVER TRY TO STEAL YOU THE BALL BECAUSE BOTH, THEM AND EVERY PEOPLE IN THE PLANET KNOW THAT THIS GAME IS END SO WHY MR GARRITY TURNED THE BALL WITH 8 SEC LEFT??????????????????????????????
IF I EVER HAD ANY DOUBT ABOUT NBA BEING ONE OF THE FEW "HONEST" LEAGUE OF THIS PLANET PRIOR THAN THIS GAME, NOW I DO NOT HAVE IT ANYMORE.

Alan, I am not disagreeing with you at all....infact I look for this to be the next big sports scandal after the steroid issue blows over; it may take a few years but someone will "write the book."

On another note, I have followed the Hawks since moving here to Atlanta in 1984, nothing ever really to get excited about except the Dominique Wilkins years and Spud Webb was fun to watch. If they ever made the playoffs it was only for a round usually losing to the Pistons or Celtics.

I say this only because I think for the first time in a long while they have something to build on. Even though they looked horrible and sluggish on the court tonight (3 in 4, 2 away situation) I don't think there is any quit in this team nor will there be for the rest of the year. I don't know what really went on in the last 2 minutes in Orlando but I'm sure it will affect the Majic more than the Hawks in the days to come.

Lastly, I'm sure lots of posters would like to see you get involved in the Tracking Forum, its only 21 days old and already a success. I am helping out JMan and Wilheim a little with the room and I can tell you there are good things to come...i.e. weekly, monthly, and season long contest. Take a look around and see what you think.

Take Care, Glaken

Glaken actually I had forgotten all about that tracking forum, I have never even looked at it. I may browse through there and see what is going on. I have never talked to you on here but you seem to be on top of things keep up the great work and someone told me to check a few of your tennis plays out so I may take a looksy sometime. Hope you have a good night.

Pat garrity is a marginal NBA player as it is. He is going to risk his career and livelihood by fixing a game? Who did he fix it for, himself? Garrity and any other NBA player make more per game than they would by betting on their games. And how do you fix conspiracists explain the rest of the 48 minutes of the game that led up the the last play. Are syou saying the entire NBA game is scripted?
This argument of fixed games is so unbelievably ridiculous it's funny.
Even if they were fixed, everyone is missing the point. Instead of crying about a fix every time you lose a bad bet, why don't you figure out who is fixing these games and get on the right side of the fix?????????????????

If you asked peoples some months ago if any league of this planet was fixed they would have laugh in your face. I would love to see these peoples face now after the German referee comes out last months saying that many leagues of the German league were fixed. THIS IS A FACT.

Then you asked me "Instead of crying about a fix every time you lose a bad bet, why don't you figure out who is fixing these games and get on the right side of the fix?????????????????

Now when you will have tell me who have fixed the German league games i will be able to answer your question.

One of the most convincing arguments I've heard is that it's VERY unlikely that that many people (refs, players, coaches, gamblers, etc) could be involved over the years and yet not one of them has let it slip.

If the fix was in, wouldn't it have been awfully risky to let the lead get to 14 with 43 seconds left? What if someone not in on the 'fix' didn't miss free throws, turn it over, get the steal, etc? Or are you suggesting it was a "team effort"?

If the fix was in, wouldn't you think they'd be more discreet about it instead of last second missed free throws and turnovers to arouse suspicion? It's like two players colluding at a poker table. Are they gonna openly pass notes across the table or will they be discreet about it so as to not arouse suspicion? If an NBA game was ever fixed, chances are it won't be an instance that arouses your suspicion.
