A poster raised his concern about this matter on another thread. I thought it warrented a thread of its own for some of us "degenerate" gamblers to comment on...

There has GOT to be a better way than this...:icon_conf

"In the last 13 days I wonder why no one has mentioned a word of the murder that is being commited at this moment in Florida. I wonder what the degenerates thoughts are on this woman being starved and thirsted to death at this very moment. How would they feel if it was their mom or sister?"<!-- / message -->

And today I read that they're going to do an autopsy after she dies to find out exactly HOW BRAIN DEAD she was??????? I mean if you're connected to a respirator...that is really considered life support. Why don't they just take the blood out of her veins and embalm her? I mean Ken you're really a MD...and you know what I once did for a living....what's your take?

Maybe because this is a very unusual situation, a "particular" murder.

its a tragedy.

guy on the news made an interesting comment regarding the aclu's stance on this since they support mike schaivo. he said "they would fight like hell to keep a convicted serial killer alive due to the possibility that new evidence would come to light which would exonerate him. yet, they want terri schaivo dead even though there is clearly a debate on what her wishes are. they fight for life for convicted felons but not for the disabled or the unborn".

i think he hit it on the head.

Well, being that I know what you USED to do for a living, perhaps DRUGGING her to death would be a kinder way??? :icon_conf

This must be a NIGHTMARE to the family and Friends of the victim...

What a disgrace to have reporters following her around every day and reporting on her imment death as much as possible...

It's sad to see how beautiful she once was and compare it to what she is like today...

I don't want to get into all of my feelings and beliefs regarding this devestating situation because it would take all night to reveal...

Suffice to say I believe there has got to be a better way to die than this...

Bingo...that really sums it up...this is sickening...I couldn't imagine being in the parents shoes being told by a court they couldn't keep their child alive and watch her starve on top of it.....

How about the reports that they are/will give her pain killers? If you are being starved to death, I think you might rather have some food or water than a shot of morphine

That's what really got to me today...how beautiful she once was. And ya know, she's still beautiful to her parents. Such a shame that she soon will only be a memory...with never a hope. Aushwitz would be better for as bad as that death of suffocating from Cyanide was at least it was over in a few minutes.

On one hand I say murder. But then I see the other side. I would hate to be on either side of this. Its a no win situation

I think about what the parents must think watching her ...remembering all her milestones in life, birth, childhood years and now this, and they have no say?

Just doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

If this wasn't sick enough already, you could always mention that the brain damage that she incurred was due to some serious eating disorder.

Your right Journey. No sense at all.

Ironically, I remember starting a thread a few weeks ago about the need for EVERYONE to have a LIVING WILL made up before it is too late...

If this doesn't force some of us to rethink it, then nothing will...

I was shocked at how many of us, myself included, take things for granted...

I also read somewhere how the number of living wills has shot up exponentially since this tragedy has occured...

The Shrink and I have been around the block and have some mileage on our odometers...we all know that we ALL have to face the inevitable and we would be fools to say that we don't think about it from time to time. I pray when my time comes it is painless to both myself and my family that has to witness it, swift, and we have the chance to meet our maker in dignity. Ms. Schiavo has none of the above

After watching a segment on one of the nightly newscasts at dinner over the weekend, we had an interesting family discussion.

My 10 year old thought they should allow her to die. His reasoning was that the only life signs were the "automatic" ones that come from the brain stem, not from the other parts of the brain (which according to the report were 'liquified" to a point that they could never be repaired). He did not conisder her to be alive since she had no other brain functins other than those 'automatic' responses. I concurred with him.

My 8 year old said even if they only c=functioning part of the brain was the stem, the brain was not completely non-functioning. His position was as long as there is some life sign in the brain there is always hope. He closed with "god is on my side". My wife the nurse concurred with him.

Discussion was a very interesting 20 minutes on so.
