FADE TEAMS: these are teams that are not going to perform up to expectations

Houston Astros
St Louis Cardinals
Philadelphia Phillies
Texas Rangers

Teams on the Rise: these are teams that will surpass the publics expectations

San Diego Padres
Atlanta Braves
Arizona Diamondbacks
Cincinnati Reds
Pittsburg Pirites

I take the under on all the fade teams for team wins on the season, and the over on team wins for teams on the rise.
This should be a good start for the first month of the season until public perception catches up with reality. Good value here.
Feel free to agree or disagree. All comments welcome.

Chop?

What U Think?

Orioles...i'm kinda in between because I think they may actually be competitive until Late July. They will upset the Yanks and BoSox a few times on the road in my opinion.

If they played in the NL West they would win it. Too bad they must play in that division. They will be streak team like any other team that strikes out like that lineup. Lots of 5 game winning and losing streaks in store for the Orioles.

I feel that my friend. Gotta just watch em and know when to stroke em right. Look foward to working with your plays this season. This is my first go round on Da RX with bases.

I think the Rocket is going to pitch like a 42 year old this season. Pettite and Oswalt cannot stay off the DL. Losing Betran and Kent. Whats to like about this team other than a decent bullpen. This team will be lucky to win 70 games.

I really like the DBacks this year...solid young pitching staff, and got some hitters for that small ballpark...they should compete in the Bondsless NL west.

why fade St.Louis??,,, I don't get that one at all. Sure they lost Renteria and Womack but it's not gonna hurt them too badly. They now have a bonafide ace with Mulder which they missed bigtime last year, I like this team a lot again. Houston is for sure a fade team, Colorado as well,,, they have nothing outside of Helton.

I will fade Texas, first and foremost. I expect only Ryan Drese to perform above expectations. And the offense is the most overrated in baseball, according to BP/

I will fade Tampa and am the proud owner of under 72. I also have unders on the Cubs, Red Sox, Mets and Marlins. Overs on Detroit and Seattle. And call me a sucker, Atlanta.

Just because the Cardinals are on my fade list does not mean they are not a good team. This just means that thier line is going to be overblown at the start of the year. The same is true for the Diamondbacks on my on the rise picks. This does not mean I think they will be great, I just think there is value on them.

I dont think the Cards pitching staff will hold up to be as good as they were last year. A lot of the Cards success last year was because of pitching. They finished 2nd in all of baseball in team ERA. I dont think they can repeat that performance with again this year. The offense is still great, but losing Womack, Renteria, and Matheny will hurt. All in all, the Cards will still be a very solid team, but like choptalk said, they will be heavy favorites often to start the year.

Everything that could go right for the Cardinals last season did. You just cant expect Cris Carpenter and Jeff Suppan to have the type of seasons they did a year ago. Sure Moulder makes up some of the slack that they are going to cause, but not all of it. Renteria was the heart and soul of that team, if I had to make a top 5 list of most underated players in baseball, he would be on it. Do you think Edmonds and Rolen are going to have the same type seasons this year? Both had the best seasons of there life. Do you expect Larry Walker to play 120 games this season? I will take the under. I hope you are not expecting much from Jason Marquis this season. He will never have a year like last season again. Ray King also pitched way over his head. Can you name me one person besides Matt Morris, who is capable of having a better year this season than last?
The Cubs on the other hand are the opposite of the Cards. Everything that could go wroung did. My NL East prediction:
1 Cubs
2 Cards
3 Reds
4 Pirates
5 Astros

Hey Choptalk - I think I found a perfect prop for you at

Pinny: matchup season wins Stl - Atl

Atl is +4.5 and I just bet it at +116

Good luck if you agree. Also, what do you think about
some of the other matchups involving Stl or SD?:103631605

Thanks for pointing that out MathProf. I dont spend much time looking at props like that, but Atlanta +4.5 +116, you must be kidding me. Thats a great prop. The braves will win 90 for sure, so the cards must win 95. I will take that any day.

And you don't think losing Sosa will hurt the Cubs? On top of an offense that is far from bashing the ball, I think the Cubs are highly overrated. Prior will go on the DL again while Woods will never be what he was. With Pujols, Edmonds, and Rolen, Cards have the best offense in the NL quite possibly in both leagues ...Cards will win the central again.

Hey Chop, with the NL Central being a tad weaker this yr (Houston's FA losses, Cubs injuries, lack of bullpen help), i'm looking at the Brewers possibly being a .500 ballclub. Any thoughts??

I'll be keeping an eye out for your plays this yr. Thanks

Fade the Mariners. They have no pitching to speak of. They picked up a questionable Sexton and a Beltre they had a big contract year but never hit before last year. They'll be chasing the Angels and Rangers all year.
