Can anybody help me locate the web site for the major sportsbook outlets located in the border towns in Mexico. I thought they :toast: were called the turf club or caliente sportsbooks.

Thanks in advance!

Caliente is a reputable sportsbook in Tijuana. Pueblo Amigo has some smaller books.

Caliente controls all the books around Tijuana and Mexicali. There are a few other book operators, but they are located in other parts of the country.

If you want to watch a game Vegas style, go to the one at the Jai Alai or the Pueblo Amigo. If you just want to get quick bets in, there is one that is ultra convenient for walking right around where all the taxis park. You can bet and walk back across the border in less than half hour as long as the lines to go back in the US aren't long.

The one thing that sucks is the tax they charge. 1.5% of winning bets last I saw it. Still much better to play offshore.

I was there the first day of sports betting at Caliente. Big-time glitces, but they kinda got it right eventually. Can't bet online from US, though, I believe.

Roxy... do u play at Pokerroom.com or Hollywood Poker...

Your fellow San Diegan...

I go the Caliente in Queretaro sometimes and you can't even get a racing program.

And Yeah, that tax is a gay. And for horseracing wagers, the tax is 2% and it is on the value of the whole ticket, not just the profit. So if i make a $2 plc bet and the payoff is $2.40, the tax is 5 cents. The damn Mexican government even surpresses their citizentry at the betting window! To make matters worse, although they are parimutuel, the have a max limit on horse wagers of $100. I tried to make a $500 win wager, and they wouldn't take it. That makes no sense and I never did ask for an explanation.

I used to live in San Diego and make the walk across the border every week to Caliente.

Those were the days.
